"Come back, Wendy. Mr. White is here to pick Luna up. Don't be a third wheel now," called out a male student, disregarding whether the whole revelation would put Wendy in an awkward situation. "Wait, is that true, Mr. White? Luna is your girlfriend?" Wendy covered her mouth in disbelief. Her eyes lit up as if she was surprised and delighted to learn that I was Colin's girlfriend. "Yes." Colin nodded and walked toward me, who was standing by the entrance. He tucked a lock of hair behind my ears and grabbed my hand. "I came to pick her up for lunch."

Sheesh. Did he have to perform all these romantic gestures in public? Where was his decorum as a lecturer? Everyone would mock him.

I blushed uncontrollably and whispered to him that he should stand farther from me. However, he ignored my demands and pulled me into his arms. Several other students screamed loudly, especially Wendy, who nearly confessed to him just now. She was so happy that she was kicking her feet.

Seriously? Even the concert of a superstar would not receive a warmer reception than this. And Wendy too. She nearly confessed, and now, she was fangirling. What did she want?

"Wendy, are you in denial now? You can kick your feet all you want, but you're not kicking Luna out of Mr. White's heart. She's a permanent resident there."

"I'm just happy. Mr. White is like an art piece. You can admire it from afar but can't touch it. I merely wanted to take a closer look at him. That's all. Also, only someone beautiful like Luna can match Mr. White's handsomeness. They're a match made in heaven! Oh, don't mind me. Let me cry for a while."

At the end of the whole collective flattery and congratulations, Colin and I felt compelled to treat everyone to lunch. And what was a good lunch option for a group? Barbecue, of course.

Everyone sat around the griddle and grilled whatever they wanted to eat-corn, sausages, burger patties, or potatoes. Then, we seasoned it according to our preference. However, since I was on my period, Colin forbade me from eating spicy and greasy food. I could only watch my peers eat in envy.

The general ambiance was good. We talked about everything, from politics to geography, and even the students' lives. Colin and I were not able to participate in the conversation. We could only be active listeners and make a few short responses to show that we were listening.

I realized that there was a gap between us. And slowly, we participated less and less in the conversation. Even though I wasn't that much older than them, there was a generational gap between us.

As they chatted, they somehow talked about Colin's birthday. It was the topic that pushed conviviality to a new height. Everyone eagerly gave their own suggestions about how the celebration should be held.

In the end, everyone, excluding Colin and me, had a vote and decided to celebrate Colin's 29th birthday at Crystal House. Colin offered his rejection politely, but it was vetoed.

Winston, on the other hand, wasn't thrilled, but he remained cooperative. He didn't sulk and even gave a few solid ideas during the discussion.
