Colin's phone rang beside the bed before I had finished wiping his hair thoroughly.

Sometimes, I hated the ubiquitous high-tech products like cell phones, which ruined the atmosphere at critical moments.

Of course, even if I hated it, it provided numerous benefits. I couldn't live without it.

His phone was by the bed, about three feet away from where Colin and I were. As I had good eyesight, I could easily see the number on the phone screen with a glance. The number was unfamiliar, and I had no idea who the caller was.

I didn't know many of Colin's colleagues' phone numbers, mainly because I hadn't had much contact with them. I didn't like their lively events and had never attended their gatherings.

When someone contacted him at this hour, I automatically thought it was his colleague or the lecturer Colin had helped.

I took the phone, picked it up, and placed it near his ear. His big hand held mine, moistening my hand.

Before Colin said a few words, I could feel his muscles stiffen. He abruptly took the phone from my hand and placed it on the other ear.

He stood up unconsciously, frowned, and turned solemn. He didn't even notice how loose his towel was.

"How is it? Is the injury serious? What did the doctor say?" Colin spoke quickly with a rare seriousness.

He most likely valued the injured person.

Emotions were contagious. I felt nervous as well.

I quickly got out of bed and stood beside Colin. I hugged his arm to comfort him and tried to hear who was hurt.

Countless scenarios of that person's injuries flashed through my mind.

It could be Aunt Mel or Uncle Austin, or it could be Felix, whom I hated.

However, the actual situation was beyond my expectations. Her injury surprised me at first, but it made sense when I thought about it.

After all, she existed to create trouble for us.

Colin promptly hung up the call. I worriedly asked him what had happened. He didn't bother to wipe his hair but threw away the towel and put on his clothes.

"Jasmine fell while doing rehabilitation. It was a bit serious. I have to go over and take a look."

I subconsciously looked at the phone that hadn't been turned off on the bed. It was 9:47 pm. Why would she undergo rehabilitation at this hour?

Colin hurriedly changed his clothes and opened the door. When he found me still in a daze, he came back and pushed me to the closet. "Why are you still standing there? Get dressed quickly." I was stunned when I heard that.

"There's no way I can go there alone at night. That would be too inconvenient. If something like last time happens again, it would be tough for me to explain it to you. Hurry up. Move faster." "That's your savior, not mine." It was night. I preferred sleeping to seeing Jasmine.

"Yes, the life-saving grace is mine, but I'm yours. That's why you should go. You have the power and obligation to participate and make decisions throughout the process. Hurry up, baby."

Colin winked at me and even blew me an air kiss.

He flirted with me again. Well, since he said it so sincerely, I'd reluctantly go there.

I had contemplated if I should follow him as he changed his clothes. He didn't say anything, and I felt embarrassed to ask as it showed I didn't trust him.

I was worried Jasmine would do something to Colin again. Fortunately, he was willing to take me with him.

I soon got ready and headed outside. Since Queenie was in her room, I told Andrew to let her know I was leaving. Then, I followed Colin downstairs and got into the car.

When we arrived at the rehabilitation hospital's entrance, we noticed a tall man standing on the steps. He approached us when he spotted Colin's car.
