Oh, she was teasing me. It seemed like she was healing. That was good. Leaving a toxic ex behind was an improvement in the quality of life.

"Why not? Because you two want more intimate time together?"

Queenie squirmed and looked at Andrew, who was sitting opposite us. Andrew met her gaze, and she blushed right away. Then, she barked back, "You talk back now. I shouldn't have helped you yesterday if I knew you were so good at running your mouth."

"Of course, you'd help me." I threw myself into her arms. "The Queenie I know will always come to my defense when I get bullied."

We joked around for a while until Queenie began heaving. She asked me to stay away from her because my weight was suffocating her.

"Alright, stop it now, Luna. Queenie is still sick."

I glared at Andrew. "Look how protective you are now. Don't cross me now or I'll forbid her from seeing you."

Andrew's smile froze as he fled to the kitchen. From time to time, he would peek at Queenie from the door frame like a sneaky kid.

Despite the dusk glow on her face, Queenie still looked rather sickly, albeit much better than before. She seemed to be in good spirits too. There were sparkles in her eyes.

She was quite depressed days ago, and it wasn't just because of Flynn. It was mainly because of her baby. She had to make the difficult decision of aborting or keeping her child. It was a cruel decision. Alas, life wasn't kind to her. As much as she wanted to keep the child, she gave in to despair and took away the child's right to be born. However, in my eyes, she just spared her child the life of being scorned and damned.

Flynn's engagement finally made her give up on him and that child inside her womb. That day in the ward, she broke down. She said she couldn't do it. Yet she didn't want the child to pay for her selfish desire and become a bastard forever.

She said she was a sinner and asked me if she could ever be redeemed. I said yes because the baby certainly knew the difficult situation she was in and would not blame her for her decision.

While giving up on a four-month-old baby was a cruel decision, why bring the child into the world if Queenie wasn't able to provide the child with happiness and joy? Kids were innocent. They shouldn't be the ones to pay for their parents' sins.

They were little angels that should be protected and cherished.

"Don't cry, Queenie. The child left you momentarily and will return in the future. Your job now is to let your body recover so that you can find your future child the father they deserve. That way, when they come into this world, they'll be the most loved and pampered child in the world.

"Make her happy and your child will come back to you in no time. They'll ask you to be their mommy again," I said.

Those were the words of comfort that came to my mind on the spot, but Queenie believed them. They gave her hope. I only found out later that those conspicuous white lies shone a ray of hope in her gray world.

And when she had a pair of twins-one boy, one girl-in the future, she spoiled her daughter like she had never before. I asked why she played favorites and she told me that she owed it to her aborted child. Perhaps the ray of hope was all she needed to move on. The story between Flynn and she ended on a sour note. But Queenie was reborn anew. I was worried about her the moment I heard that she wanted to break up with him. But now, I felt relieved.

After dinner, Andrew let me push Queenie back to her bedroom to chat while he helped Laura tidy up the kitchen.

"Luna, did something happen? You're not yourself." The air conditioning was blasting cold air. Afraid that I might catch a cold, Queenie put a blanket on top of me and asked the question.
