I was half way down the corridor when I heard footsteps rushing in my direction. I ignored them and carried on walking. They called out my name and I recognise Lilith’s voice. I ignored it still and kept walking. What the hell was wrong with these people? Since I came here all there had been was trouble. Why didn’t they just sentence me to death? The queen seems to know everything already anyway.

Lilith caught my hand and I finally stopped. “Come back.” She said softly. “Sort it all out. You are the only one to make this go smoothly. You are the key to stop all this.” I slowly turned to look at her.

“Why is this happening to me?” I questioned. “He tells me things that shouldn’t really be told, he feels things that shouldn’t be felt by him, and he acts like he wants me to be around him for a long time but then he tells me I don’t belong when I blatantly do because I get along with everyone better than he could think possible.” I stared at her and she just smiled.

“Zev is confused. He just passed out in front of the whole guard. He is risking his life and his reputation as a prince and the lord of the guard for you. The least you could do was trust his judgement.” She said softly but I couldn’t help but frown.

“I trusted him from the moment he saved my life, even more so since he saved Tempy’s. Every time I look at him, I am blinded by something I can’t explain. Something that shouldn’t be in this world, more in the world of gods and angels, which don’t even exist.” I told her. She looked at me. She was silent and then she smiled.

“No one needs to answer that question because you know the answer yourself. Now please come back into the room, reassure the whole guard that everything is fine, the lord of fine and this situation will be resolved” She said to me. I sighed and nodded. Lilith took my hand and pulled me back in to the room.

When the door opened everyone looked my way. People were looking at me expecting a miracle. I didn’t know what I was meant to do. Lilith pulled me to the front where Zev lay on the ground, Gur watching carefully. I stood there letting everyone watch me.

“I don’t know what you are all expecting me to say. I am damn right scared of this whole situation that Zev has now involved you in. This isn’t your quarrel. I don’t know what you know, and what he has told you but if you don’t want involvement in my battle then leave.” A few people did leave. I sighed. We had to be a really inquisitive set of people. “Right, I know personally I need to know if that child existed or not. To me that is important and if anyone can find any evidence then I will be most grateful. Now can we leave? If you are worried about Zev, then don’t. He is now in my care. When you love someone you have to help.” People gave a small cheer and left. I looked at Zev and sighed. “Take him to his room.”

A couple of people came along and did so. My sister looked at me smiling happy with what I had done. I guess I was happy but somehow I felt like I was taking control. Was it time for me to tell Zev to pipe down?

Gur walked up to me and took my hand. “That was brilliant, thank you.” I shrugged and nodded.

“I don’t see why I had to take control, be a leader.” I told them.

“Because you haven’t been here long enough to lose that authoritative tone. Everyone here is a follower. The pack leaders follow Zev’s demands. Those below the pack leader just do a hell of a lot of following. We don’t have the guts to take control.” I nodded slowly.

“I guess.” I sighed.

“You did fantastic” my sister said trying to boost my morale. I didn’t believe her of course. All I did was take control, get people to take action. The situation needed sorting and the only way to do it was to take action. I needed to take action and get it sorted. I followed the people back to Zev’s room and made him comfortable. I sat on the edge of his bed just looking at him. I guess I was thinking of what I could do to sort this out. The stress was making us all go insane. The stress was affecting us, and we couldn’t stop it. I got up and took a deep breath. I stalked out of Zev’s room and I walked down the corridors. I saw Lilith and she fell into stride with me.

“Get the queen, get people on the jury, whatever, I am getting Danni” She nodded and ran off. I trotted down a flight of stairs and walked fast a long a corridor. When I heard fast footsteps, I stopped. A short person ran towards me. It looked like a kid. I hadn’t seen them here before.

“Miss! Excuse me miss!” they shouted. When they reached me they stopped. “There are two people at the front of the fort and they want to be speak with Zev. I was told to tell you” I frowned and I let the boy show me the way. We walked fast. They boy was almost at a run and I sort of felt sorry for the little boy.

We reached the front hall area and a woman and a man stood there chatting like old mates. I walked up to them and they both looked at me. They both looked disgusted in me and most of all like they didn’t want to talk to me.

“We asked for Zev” they guy asked. His hair was white but he didn’t look much older than Zev.

“Zev is currently unavailable, you will have to talk to me. I am guessing it concerns me and Danni so you will tell me.” The man glanced at the woman before looking back at me.

“Fine. I have a couple of presents.” He said. I cocked my head and he just smiled. The door opened and two people walked in. one was in cuffs with someone walking with him to keep him under control. They eyes looked up and I saw Kieran. He looked rough, and more like a caveman than a god that I thought he was. The girl in front of him walked freely and joy filled my heart when I saw her. Temperance walked over to me fast and quickly. She threw her arms around me and I hugged her back.

“What are you doing here?” I asked Tempy. She just shrugged.

“Zev asked me to get your sister and this filth for the trial.” I nodded.

“He can go downstairs away from Danni. In fact, let us say Danni shouldn’t see him.” Kieran just looked at me, death just oozing from his stare. The man next to Kieran pulled him off. Tempy stood next to me looking at the woman. My gaze fell to her. The man stood back a bit.

“And you?” I questioned her. From out of nowhere she pulled a jar out. Inside it was a plant. It was pink on the back side of the petals but vibrant orange in the top side. My eyes widens and I took a deep breath.

“I was asked to get this. I believe this is the plant which has caused you so much trouble these few years.” I nodded. It was the Forgetless flower. “I also have a statement from the dealer who sold it to Danni. It is recorded.” I nodded.

“Thank you. I will let Zev know” I told her. She smiled. She was a nice person, on the outside.

“I also have something else. I took this when I was on the black market. It is a record book. I looked through it and found something you might want to see.” She handed me the book. It was brown but not too thick. It looked tattered but not old. I opened it and read the title. It was a record book of cross breeding animals. The pages contained the date, name of the child. The parents and where in the world. It also had the species. The last column noted if they were alive, dead, or aborted. I flicked through the pages. I found the date and looked for my name. When I found it there was all the information I needed.

Date: 2005

Parents Names: Danni Lovato, Katsi Torres

Child Name: Luke

Breed: Wolf, Panther

Where: America

Status: Aborted

I felt tears slip down my cheek. It was true. I didn’t even know. I don’t really remember much of 2005 and I guess this is why.

“Thank you so much” I whispered. The woman nodded. I closed the book and clutched it to my chest. I shook off the tear and stood tall. “Get these people a room, and some food. My sister goes to my room.” People dispersed and someone pulled my sister off. I smiled at her and she finally walked off. I walked off and headed down to the dungeons. The guard was sat there. A different one this time. I smiled and I walked past him. He pointed in the opposite direction to Danni. I heard him whistle and I stopped.

“It is a pretty flower isn’t it? It suited your summer dress that you wore in 2005.” He chuckled a little bit.

“Shut it Danni, you will get yours. I have the proof I need.” I then walked down the corridor. I went down a few steps and ended at the other end. Kieran sat on the floor flint chipping. He wasn’t doing a very good job of it.

“You found me. Your sister was a cute little flower.” He muttered.

“Stop muttering. I have a proposition for you.” He looked up at me interested.

“Do tell” He said.

“Testify against Danni” I said. He frowned.

“What do I gain?” He asked.

“No trial” I told him. “IF you testify, siding on my side, I will drop the charges against you. I will talk to Zev about the punishment he gave you. It is up to my sister if she presses charges on you but that is the best I can do.” He started flinting again. He hummed and bobbed his head. A little while went by and he looked up.

“I will do it. What do I need to do” He said. I smiled and told him all about my plan.
