Secret Lure of a Cat Demon
Prince Guard Say Wha?

He pulled me into a dark room and pushed me against a wall and held me there with his whole body. To send sparks down my body was an understatement. I couldn’t help but take a deep breath. I looked up and Zev’s breath was warm on my face.

“Why are you angry at me?” he asked. I growled.

“I liked him. You humiliated him.” I told him. I heard him scoff and I rolled my eyes.

“He raped you.” he scolded me.

“And you hate me so why do you care!” I screamed at him. I nearly fell to the floor with the release of strength. Zev stepped back a few steps and I could feel his eyes on me. He was watching me. I could see that he wanted to answer the truth but I knew he wouldn’t.

“Can we drop it, I helped you out, the least you could say was thank you” he muttered. My jaw dropped. I have said thank you to him enough. Now he was acting like a spoilt child who didn’t get what he wanted.

“You are a cold heartless animal!” I shouted at him. The gleam of his eyes shot towards me.

“And so are you” He shot back. My draw dropped. No I wasn’t. “You are the one who physically attacked that guy. You are the one who went all out on him.” I blinked. He was right. I was heartless.

“I hate you!” I shouted at him and I ran out of the room. I saw the corridor lights hit his figure. I hadn’t really noticed he was topless. I hadn’t noticed the yellow brown bruises on him. I wondered what he had got them. Had he been in a fight? I didn’t care. He did let me have the pride I deserved. I had fought back someone I hated. I trusted Kieran and I trust him as a friend and he went back on that. He had been planning it while we had been chatting. Not a mistake I will be making again. Actually, I insist on never speaking to anyone ever again. They were stupid pointless people and I hated them all. If I had to spent 10 years of solitude I would. I would only talk to Zev when he addressed me. I was nothing to this place and I would make it like that. I somehow made it back to my room. I opened the door and I sighed. I didn’t clear on my things up. All Gur had told me was that Zev had gone loony and was about to attack Kieran. It had gotten my attention. I want to kill Zev but I also wanted to know why. Zev never did anything spontaneously and hearing this confused me but now I knew it confused me even more that he would care enough to protect me.

I picked all my clothes up that had been thrown. I placed then in a pile. I was going to burn them. I didn’t care. They were disgusting. I then went around the room and picked up the papers. I put them in a pile and I planned to go through them all later.

I didn’t emerge from my room for another two day after the incident. No one bothered me and I was grateful. Dinner was brought to me and I ate it in my room. I studied the paper that Zev had given me and I studied hard. I wanted to pass this as soon as I could so I could away from him. I knew full well that I would end up in his platoon full of wolves but I had to put up with it and I knew if I found someone else around I could make friends and then we could spend time together instead of me having to spend all my time with Zev. I mean what Zev was nice to me I didn’t mind spending the time but I got uncomfortable around him and things between us got awkward. There were emotions forming that I knew neither of us really wanted.

It was Saturday, three days after the incident and I had ventured out of my room to find the queen to ask her a question. Whether she would grant it is another thing but I wanted to do this. I needed to do it. I needed time away from this place and time with my family.

I was walking down one of the corridors that led to her room when I rounded a corner to see Zev walking towards me. I paused. I hadn’t spoken to him since that particular time and I don’t know if her regretted what he did or not. I wanted to know if it troubled him or not. When he looked at me our eyes locked and pictures of the time in the room flashed before me. My stomach did flips and I couldn’t help but let a small smile form on my lips. He walked up to me and looked at me. He didn’t smile and didn’t change the expression that was on his face. It was almost blank. He wasn’t sad or angry, he wasn’t happy either. It was somewhere in between and I only just about saw the confusion through his eyes as his jaw was set and there was no emotion.

“Hi,” I whispered. There wasn’t any change after I spoke. He just stood there. Should I say thank you for what he did for me? But then he smiled. He seemed genuinely happy to see me.

“Hi,” he said. “How are you feeling?” he asked me. I shrugged at his question. I didn’t really know. Standing her clouded my thoughts.

“Tired” I told him truthfully. “I have been killing myself over the paper you gave me, trying to learn it all. I want to pass” I told him. Zev nodded seemingly pleased.

“That’s good you are finally taking this seriously.” he said. Then he paused. I frowned but he soon carried on. “Where are you going?” he asked me.

“Uh... I was going to see your mother, I wanted to ask her something.” I told him. He frowned.

“What did you want to ask her?” He asked me. This time I frowned. Why would he want to know that?

“Well, I am not going to tell you. It isn’t really any of your business is it?” I told him. He shrugged and sort of nodded.

“Fine, have it your way but she isn’t in there. I don’t know where she is. I checked everywhere for her and no one is telling me so... you’re going to have to talk to me” He seemed silently happy about that. I sighed and I looked him over carefully. He seemed to be telling the truth.

“Well, I wanted to go home for the week end, go see the family, you know.” I said. I knew I was treading dangerously when I said it. It was going to be a yes or no, no discussion in the matter and it would more than likely be a no than a yes because Zev pretty much loved making my life hell.

“Sure” He said. I almost fell over with shock. Prince guard guy say wha?

“Excuse me?” I has to question. It wasn’t sinking in. he never agreed to anything. He normally wanted me to be miserable.

“You can go. Be back for Monday, you have your test. You also need to tell Lilith to hurry up and get home. You also need to tell your sister to behave and your mother want to talk to you in person so I don’t see why not. Just make sure you see everyone you want to see. You wont be able to see them unless it is special circumstances like one dies or there is marriage.” He told me. I nodded slowly but turned around to face away from him. I put on an “Okay” face. You know the one that was like shocked but happy with the raise of the eye brows. I trotted down the corridor happily and I went to get ready. I wouldn’t wait to see my family. I wondered where Lilith and Tempy were.
