Saving Kinsley
Challenging Gaze

Kinsley's P.O.V

"Eat, you haven't eaten a decent meal in goddess knows how long. You'll need your strength." Noah's deep voice gently demanded.

Didn't have to tell me twice. I quickly shoveled the food down, and drinking more of the water Vivi passed to me.

"So what's the plan?" I asked as I wiped my face.

"We don't really have a plan yet.." Noah said as he looked to Vivi.

I shrugged. "Okay, well. Obviously I'm not capable of running for my life now per say. But When I'm able, we need to have a plan in place. He can't find me ever again."

Continuing I looked at both of them "Something is off, I shouldn't be his mate anymore. He rejected me, and I accepted it. I felt the bond completely disintegrate."

Neither of the two spoke a word, just nodded. "We'll figure it out. Until then-" Noah's words cut off abruptly as both of them stood stock still. Both of their expressions instantly changed to neutral as they rushed from the cell.

Another door in the distance clanged against the walls, sending the noise traveling through out the area. "Why are you here?" A deep voice snarled. "S-sorry alpha. I was asked to bring food to her." Vivi's voice quaked in fear.

I growled at the voice intimidating my friend, "Leave her alone."

The Man stepped closer coming into my line of vision.

Shit.

Alpha.

My last memory of this disgraceful excuse for an Alpha had been me, turning my back towards him after blatantly defying his dominance. In this world, that alone could be looked at as a challenge.

"You were always a pain in my ass Kinsley." He snarled at me, his eyes were nearly engulfed to the darkest shade of black.

Instinctively I snarled back, "Why am I here." I demanded answers. One way or the other I'd get answers.

"Because my Son claims you are his Mate." He spat the word out like it was a sin. I didn't want him as my mate either, that we could agree on.

"No. HE REJECTED ME. Goddess for the love of the moon how many times do I have to say that? Might as well make it my mantra now." I seethed back through clenched teeth, locking eyes with him. I don't know how I'd been tricked for so many years into believing this pack was my savior, let alone him.

I watched as he clenched and unclenched his hands. "If it were my choice I'd leave you to rot in here. Actually no, I'd chain you to the wall with silver lined cuffs and beat the submission into you. Watch your tone, next time I wont be so forgiving when you challenge my wolf." He snarled as he turned his back to me. Turning his head to the side he spoke to Noah "Bring her to her room, and I want guards at the door around the clock."

Noah nodded and Alpha left the room slamming the door shut. I growled "Let me go!" Damnit! I need to find a way out of here.

Noah stepped in and lifted me from my place on the ground "Can you walk?" I took a hesitant step forward and almost fell on my face from the lack of muscle use. "No, mind helping me?" I breathed out with a frustrated sigh.

Hobbling our way up the steps, His scent instantly washed over me as soon as we stepped into the pack house. It felt like I was flashed back to my past life here, everything was the same. The kitchen area bustled with all the packs lower ranking wolves. Some cleaning, while the others cooked. Majority of them made sure to keep their gazes to the floor, never looking anyone in the eye. That had been my problem, I was never submissive enough. Every cell in my being fought against that, I could never be that for anyone.

His scent fought for dominance in every room, begging to be acknowledged. I hate that I can still be affected by him.

Nodding as we passed all the pack members, we finally came to a room at the end of a hall. There were only three doors, none that I have ever been to when I use to call this pack home. "Honestly, I'd take my old shack over this any day." I groaned as we walked closer to the doors. His scent was growing stronger. He must sleep in one of these rooms.

Noah gestured to the door in the center, "This one is yours. If you need anything, I'll be right here." He said pointing to the door on the left. Cool at least a kind face would be near. Nodding my head I opened the door to my room and entered.

The room was sparse in decorations, no photos, no colors. Just a simple black trimming and white walls. The bed sat in the middle of the room with a nightstand on one side. A lone book shelf stood next to a nook with a window. blowing air out of my lips, "Well, at least I have something to occupy my temporary time here." slowly I began to move to the bed to rest.

Throwing my body to the bed I let out a sigh as my eyes grew heavy "Just a few minutes."

"Kinsley"

"Kinsleey"

A soft voice whispered. It wasn't taunting or cruel, it was soft and melodious. I wanted to speak back, but my words came out with no sound.

"Kinsley"

The voice whispered closer, enticing me to reach out.

"I can't see you, who are you?" I spoke back in a hushed tone as not to scare it off. I felt like I shouldn't fear this ominous voice, something deep inside of me knew it was safe.

"I am-"

CRASH.

Jolting up right I looked around in alarm to find the sudden intrusive noise.

"Why is she out of the cells!" I recognized that screech anywhere. Danielle. Rolling my eyes, I turned to my side to get some more rest.

"Because I wanted her out." His voice sent an unwanted shiver down my spine. I growled, both furious and disgusted I felt the pull towards him again. Suddenly finding the energy and strength to stomp my way to the door that blocked me from the voices. Throwing it open I gasped as his green and gold flecked gaze landed on me, stopping me dead in my tracks. What was I doing again?

Right, angry.

I watched as his eyes roamed over me, flashing with concern. What was he looking at? He took a step towards me, and that's when Danielle growled and threw me against the wall. "I'll give you two seconds to get off of me, when I get to two I'm breaking your hand." I spoke calmly as I looked down at her face that was pinched with a sneer.

"One."

Her arm pressed harder against my neck and chest, shoving me into the wall. Suddenly it was as if all those years of torment and abuse came barreling into me.

"Tw-"

Raising my arm under hers I quickly spun her hand off of me breaking the hold, Gripping the inside of her hand I flicked it backwards to her wrist.

SNAP.

I watched as she fell to the ground, screaming. Dakota just watched me with a heated gaze. "I warned you. Don't EVER touch me again."
