As soon as we arrived at the Bloodrose Pack’s territory, we were welcomed by all of the pack members. They gathered together in front of the pack house. All of them were dressed in fancy clothes, maybe because their original intention of coming here were to attend the party. But because I ran away, the party that was supposed to be thrown tonight had to be called off.

A feeling of guilt began to stir in me. They had been working hard for days to prepare this party for me, but I had foiled their perfect plan.

I apologized to them all. But they said that they weren’t angry with me. Instead, they were glad that I had returned safe and sound.

Because it’s already very late, Alpha Wolfgang told his people to go home. After exchanging goodbyes, they returned to their houses.

Once everyone left, Alpha Wolfgang asked me and my father to come to his house. He said that he needed to talk to us first before we could go home.

So here we were now: sitting on the couches in the living room of the pack house.

“Now tell me, Rosanne! Why did you decide to run away like that?” My father demanded.

I sat still, hesitating over whether or not to tell him the truth.

Luna Wolfgang squeezed my hand and tried to reassure me, “That’s okay, Rosanne. You don’t have to be afraid to tell us. Neither of us are angry with you. We all just want to hear your reason.”

“I’m so sorry, Dad,” I sobbed, “I actually didn’t want to run away, but I had to.”

“What are you talking about?” he asked.

I elaborated, “After you left for the pack house, I secretly followed you, and I eavesdropped your conversation with the council members at the meeting room. They’re right, Dad. I’m a half-blood vampire, the enemy of the werewolf, so I shouldn’t have stayed here. That’s why I decided to run away.”

“That’s not true, Rosanne. We never think of you as our enemy,” Randolph denied.

“Yes, I know, Randolph. You and all the people in Bloodrose Pack never consider me as enemy. But what about the werewolves in the other packs?”

My question successfully silenced them. Even though they didn’t want to admit it, but they knew for sure that I was right. To other werewolves, I was their enemy because I was a vampire, although I was only a half-blood vampire.

After some time, Alpha Wolfgang finally broke the silence. “You don’t have to think about other packs, Rosanne. The most important thing is we all here are willing to accept you as you’re. We don’t care if you’re a half-blood vampire. For us, you’re still a part of our family.”

“But Alpha, my presence here will only endanger everyone. What if one day my grandfather decides to attack this pack to get me back? Or even worst, what if he declares war on all the werewolves?”

“King Bellamy won’t dare to attack us, Rosanne. Trust me!” Dad assured me.

“If you could attack the vampire kingdom, why do you think he won’t attack this pack?”

At my question, they fell silent again. And this time, I was the one who broke the silence, “That’s why, Dad, for the safety of everyone, I have to leave this pack.”

“No, Rosanne, you aren’t going anywhere,” my father insisted.

“Yes,” Randolph added, “your father is right. You don’t have to go. You can stay here with us.”

“But everyone’s lives will be put at risk if I stay here any longer,” I argued.

“You don’t have to worry about it. I’ll find a way to keep everyone safe,” Alpha Wolfgang stated.

“My husband is right,” added the Luna, “We will work out a way to ensure everyone’s safety. And about the vampire king... you don’t have to be afraid of him. We all will protect you from him.”

“But I don’t want anyone to get hurt or killed because of protecting me, Luna. So I have no choice but to leave this pack. It’s the best for everyone,” I said.

“Fine. If you insist to go, I’ll come with you,” my father said.

“No Dad, you can’t come with me,” I refused, “You’re the Beta of Bloodrose Pack. You have a responsibility towards the people of this pack. You can’t just abandon them.”

Knowing what I said was true, Dad ran his fingers through his hair frustratedly.

“But Rosanne, where are you going to stay if you leave this pack?” Randolph asked worriedly.

“I’m thinking of getting back to London and live with my adopted family again,” I replied.

“But now, they are being watched closely by King Bellamy’s men. Remember? You’ll endanger them too if you return to their house,” Dad reminded me.

“Then I’ll just live alone. I’ll find somewhere safe to hide from my grandfather,” I said stubbornly.

“No, you won’t live alone because I’m coming with you,” my father emphasized.

“But Dad—”

Before I could finish my sentence, my father talked to Alpha Wolfgang, “Alpha, I know that as a Beta, I have responsibility towards the people of Bloodrose Pack. But I have a responsibility to my daughter as well. I have ever lost my daughter once, and now I don’t want to part with her ever again. That’s why I decide to quit my position as the Beta of the Bloodrose Pack so that I can be with my daughter.”

“Please think over your decision, Beta Ivan!” the Luna requested, “There must be another way to protect the people of our pack without the two of you having to leave.”

“Yes, Ivan,” said Randolph, “You’re like a brother to me, and Rosanne is my best friend. I don’t want the two of you to leave us.”

“That’s enough, Meredith, Randolph!” Alpha Wolfgang roared, “If Ivan wants to leave, we can’t stop him. We must appreciate his decision.”

“Thank you, Alpha,” my dad said.

Alpha Wolfgang replied with a nod before he said, “You have to know, Ivan, even though you won’t live in this pack anymore, but you and your daughter are always welcome here. Forever, you two will always be a part of our family.”

“Yes, Alpha, I know. Thanks again,” my father said with a smile.

“Dad, you don’t have to do this. You shouldn’t abandon your responsibility just for me,” I said sadly.

“No, Rosanne. It has to be done. Start now on, we’ll always be together, and no one can separate us ever again. No one,” Dad said with emphasis.

“I love you, Dad,” I whispered as I gave my father a hug.

“I love you too, my daughter,” Dad replied, hugging me back.
