“I recognize your abilities, but as your fiancé, I still hope you can lean on me a bit more. 

“That way, I can feel that I hold a meaningful place in your life. 

“Otherwise, I can’t help but feel that my presence makes no difference, and your life would remain unchanged with or without me.” Simon’s heartfelt words emerged, a first in the presence of Marina. 

“Why would you ever think that?” Marina’s eyebrows arched, her curiosity piqued.
