Nelly’s POV. 

The k*ss between Alpha Kex and me was suddenly interrupted by the jarring sound of shattering glass. I flinched, startled by the unexpected noise. 

Alpha Kex hurried to the door, he opened the door carefully, avoiding the shattered glass that littered the floor. He bent down and peered into the hallway, searching for the source of the noise. When he saw that no one was there, he sighed with relief and stood up straight. 

“No one’s there,” he said, turning to me with a puzzled expression on his face. 

“What was that?” I asked, my voice quivering with anxiety. 

He shrugged, his face suddenly blank, devoid of emotion.. 

“Someone must have been spying on us,” he said, his voice betraying a hint of unease. 

He quickly pulled on his shirt and trousers, his movements hurried and uncharacteristically clumsy. I nodded, a chill running down my spine. 

I am pretty sure it is Emily. I tried to keep my expression neutral, but a small smile. must have escaped because Alpha Kex narrowed his eyes and looked at me curiously. 

“Why are you smiling?” he asked, his tone even and unreadable. 

I shook my head, my cheeks burning with embarrassment. “Me smiling? Oh! Nothing,” I blurted out, my voice betraying my nervousness. 

He sighed, his features soft and resigned. “I’ll send a maid to clean this up,” he said, nodding towards the broken glass on the floor. 

And with that, he left the room, closing the door softly behind him. 

I stood up, the wooden floorboards creaking beneath my bare feet. I walked slowly to the wardrobe, its doors standing open like an invitation. I reached for my favorite pair of loose pants and a black shirt, their soft fabric soothing my frayed nerves. 

I ran my fingers through my hair, letting it fall in loose waves around my shoulders. I paced around the room, counting my steps as I went: one, two, three, four… and boom. Alpha Kex room door opened and closed. 

I sighed, the air leaving my lungs in a rush. I counted out ten steps to Alpha Kex’s room, from my room to Alpha Kex was just ten steps. When I was sure he was inside his room,

When I reached the door, I leaned my car against it, listening for any movement inside. I heard the murmur of voices, their tones soft and low. My heart began to race, and I realized with a start that one of the voices was Emily’s. It was the perfect opportunity,

I took a deep breath and looked around, making sure we were still alone. “I had to be sure that Emily and Alpha Kex were together,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. 

“Why?” she asked, her brow furrowed confused. I hesitated, unsure of how to answer. 

I pulled her close and whispered in her ear. She listened carefully, her eyes focused on mine. When I finished, she nodded slowly. 

“Should I come along?” she asked, her voice soft. I shook my head. 

“No, it’s better if you stay here. I don’t want us to be together in case it goes wrong.” 

She looked at me, concerned in her eyes. “Are you sure?” she asked.

“I can handle myself.” I muttered, but I could see doubts in her eyes. I put my hand on her shoulder. 

She sighed and nodded, giving me a reassuring smile. “Be careful,” she said, her eyes. glistening with worry.

And with that, I turned and began walking towards Emily’s room. My heart was pounding, my palms sweating. I had no idea what I would find, but I knew I had to find 

out.

to the door and took a deep breath before turning the handle slowly. The door creaked open. I waited for a moment, my heart pounding in my chest, before

The hallway was empty, save for a single guard approaching from the opposite direction. He looked in my direction, and I feigned innocence, playing with my hair and looking around casually. 

The guard’s gaze lingered on me for a moment, then he continued on his way. My heart was still racing as I turned back to the door and sl*pped inside. 

I moved to the wardrobe, opening the doors as quietly as I could. I rifled through the clothes, searching for anything that might be related to the late beta. But there was nothing there, and I began to feel a sense of desperation.

I bent down and checked under the bed, my heart sinking as I found no stood up, my hands on my waist, my mind racing. I paced around the room, my eyes. scanning every inch for any sign of the missing item. But there was nothing. I was running out of time..

I frantically searched for a key, but I knew that finding one would take too long. I heard footsteps in the hallway, and I knew I had to hide. I darted to the closet and closed the door, holding my breath as the footsteps got closer.

The footsteps faded away, and I let out a breath of relief. I stepped out of the closet and started to stretch my cramped muscles. Just as I began to relax, the door burst open with a bang, and I froze. 

There, standing in the doorway, was Emily, her eyes blazing with anger. 

“What are you doing in my room?” she demanded, her voice sharp. 

“Oh, this is your room,” I said, trying to sound nonchalant as I looked around, my eyes.

“Whose room were you expecting it to be?” she asked, her tone skeptical.

with disgust. 

Aisha stepped into the room and I felt the tension In the air rise. “Oh, you’re here,” she said, glancing at me before turning to Emily. “Sorry she’s drunk,” she lied. 

“Just take this drunkard outside.” She said angrily. 

Aisha wrapped her arms around my waist, helping me to my feet.. 

As Aisha supported me out of the room, I wondered how I would ever find the truth.
