Chapter 137 

“I was already full, but I bumped into a stray dog on the street and was planning to buy some fried chicken for it. Since you’re hungry too, I guess I can treat you, I said with a grin 

Bonnie was blushing furiously, biting her lip, her eyes turning red. 

Why does she love biting her lip so much? 

Trene” Neil called my name, sounding annoyed because what I said was indeed a bit over the line. 

“Why did you insult Bonnie?” Malinda shouted. 

I couldn’t help laughing “Did I insult her? You’re really something.” 

I turned to leave I wasn’t going to let these people spoil my good mood. The doctor said that if I have a good mood and stable hormones during pregnancy, the baby will have a better personality 

After a hearty meal, I planned to go home, take a shower, and hit the sack. 

Before bed, I got a message from Russel: Still want some fried chicken? I can drop it off. 

What a kind hearted guy! 

I replied, “No need, I’m already stuffed. Thanks though!” 

Russel didn’t reply, so I peacefully drifted off to sleep, ready to work punctually the next day. 

Day of the Dead was coming up quickly, and the company had already issued a holiday notice. Orlando had given everyone a few days off 

Harold was also planning to go back to pay his respects this year, and I was going with him. 

The day before the holiday, after work, I took my luggage and went to the airport with Harold, ready to fly back home overnight. 

After a few hours of flying. I landed safely. 

Before coming back, I contacted Bailey, who was currently serving as my dad’s driver. He heard I was coming back and immediately agreed to pick me up from the airport in the middle of the night.. 

Bailey was waiting outside the airport. Seeing Harold and me, he smiled slightly, quickly came over, took my luggage, and addressed me as “Ma’am” 

“Just call me Ms. Finch from now on, I said with a laugh. 

Bailey was hired as our driver after Neil and I got married, so he always addressed me as ‘Ma’am.” But now that Neil and I are divorced, there was no 

need for that 

Bailey nodded and said. “All right, Ms. Finch.” 

Then he politely greeted Harold “Hello, Mr. Finch” 

“Thank you,” Harold responded warmly. 

“You’re welcome “After loading our luggage, Bailey drove us home. 

Coming back to the familiar house felt really nice. My parents were still up, waiting for Harold and me 

I hugged my mom “Mom, I missed you and Dad so much.” 

She patted me on the back. “We missed you too. Have you had dinner yet? I can cook something for you” 

“We’ve eaten,” I replied. “They had food on the plane.” 

My dad was chatting with Harold. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious. After talking for a while, we each went back to our rooms to sleep. It was already midnight, and I was dead tired. 

I slept until noon. My mom didn’t wake me up for breakfast, so I got up and went straight to lunch.

“I don’t know,” I shook my head. I really hadn’t asked. 

My father said seriously, “Rena, you can’t keep in touch with him. He’s sent Bonnie abroad to study, and he’s gone with her You can’t keep hoping” 

“Dad, don’t worry I’m not into sell–punishment,” I replied. 

“Good. There are plenty of people who like you. Don’t underestimate yourself,” my father nodded approvingly 

Tomorrow was the Day of the Dead. My grandparents had been gone for many years, and their tombs were in a cemetery in Rosemont. We would go there every year to pay our respects and pray for them. 

My mom was preparing stuff to bring for a visit at home when Stella called, “Rena, you’re back?! Let’s hang out!” 

“Where are we going?” I asked lazily, lounging on the couch. 

“Let’s go grab a bite to eat!” Stella said excitedly ‘Barbara and Ali are coming too. I’ll get Mitch to treat us. He hasn’t had a meal with you guys yet.” 

I thought about it and decided it would be fun to have a meal together. But I made a request to Stella first, “Sure, but I want roast chicken!” 

“No problem, you can have as much as you want. I’ll ask him to find the best place” Stella replied. 

After hanging up, Stella told Barbara and Alicia in the group chat that I was back. They were excited to hear the news and agreed to come to dinner 

In the evening. Stella sent me the address of a restaurant. When I arrived, they were already waiting for me. Mitch and Cooper Clarke were also there. 

They were all happy to see me and gathered around me. Mitch and Cooper felt a bit awkward when they saw me. 

Our past relationships were a bit complicated, after all. 

The restaurant was an open–air place serving roast chicken. The atmosphere was great. 

Halfway through the meal, Stella looked surprised and disgusted when she saw someone behind her. “Oh my god, Bonnie’s back too?” 

I turned around, and sure enough, it was Bonnie and Neil. 

A few days ago, she and I were fighting over a piece of fried chicken at the market. Now she’s here to fight me for roast chicken? 

What a coincidence 

“Neil, you’re back?” Mitch greeted excitedly. 

Neil was staring at me. I turned my back and continued eating my chicken. 

Stella rolled her eyes. 

Bonnie answered for Neil, “Yes, we came back together. I saw on Facebook that you were eating roast lamb here, so I wanted to check it out. I didn’t 

know Irene was here, too.” 

Mitch gave me an awkward glance. 

He must have posted his location on Facebook. What a pain. 

“Neil, are you broke? Can’t even afford a roast chicken and have to bring her here to eat?” Stella’s temper had gotten bigger since her pregnancy. 

Neil probably didn’t expect to run into us. He glanced at Bonnie, his face dark. “I’ll pay the bill later.” 

“It’s not about you paying the bill. I just don’t welcome you and Bonnie here!” Stella said loudly, glaring at Bonnie without any courtesy 

Bonnie immediately changed her face, looking pitifully at Neil, then at Mitch and Cooper. 

She apologized softly, “Sorry, Stella, I had no idea Irene was here.” 

“Stella, I’m gonna hit the loo” I got up, didn’t bother to look at Neil and Bonnie again, and headed straight to the restroom. 

I could feel someone’s gaze following me, but I didn’t bother to look back 

As I came out of the restroom and was about to wash my hands, Neil’s reflection appeared in the mirror. He looked at me with a frown, “I didn’t know you were here. Otherwise, I really wouldn’t have invited her.” 

“Does it matter?” I casually responded while washing my hands, “Your girlfriend seems to have some kind of inferiority complex, always trying to show off and steal the limelight in front of me. Do you really think my encounters with her are all coincidences?”
