Chapter 115 

Just as I was barfing my guts out, feeling my stomach cramp up. I felt a soft pat on my back. 

Trying to fight off the discomfort, I turned around. Neil’s face was serious, his eyes filled with worry. “Feeling better? Let me take you to the hospital” 

“No need. Just a bit of a stomach bug. I’ll get some meds later” I waved him off. 

If I went to the hospital, they’d definitely find out about my pregnancy And if Neil found out, that would be a problem. 

Back in Caladonia, I had snuck off to the hospital for a check–up. I was indeed two months pregnant. The doctor said there was no way to tell if the drugs I’d been taking these past two months had affected the baby. 

I was hesitating I hadn’t decided what to do with the baby. 

“If you have stomach issues, you should get a thorough check–up and then take medication seriously” Neil, seeing me getting up, grabbed my hand, trying to lead me away. 

I’ve already seen a doctor!” I pulled my hand away, saying tiredly, “I just came to this room to get some rest. I want to take a nap.” 

The room seemed to be a rest area. There was a small sofa bed in the middle. I went over, laid down, and closed my eyes. 

Maybe it was the pregnancy, but I’d been sleeping a lot lately. Even though I knew Neil was right there, I was too exhausted to care. I soon drifted off. 

I had no idea how long I slept. When I woke up, it was already dark outside. There was just a dim light on in the room. 

“You awake?” Neil was still there. He was sitting on a chair, watching me. 

“What time is it? The wedding’s over, right?” I jumped. Didn’t Stella and her crew come looking for me? 

Neil glanced at his watch, “It’s half past nine.” 

I sat up, surprised I had slept from afternoon to night?! 

Neil added, “Stella came looking for you. I told her to go ahead. I’ll take you back later.” 

“Why did I sleep so long.“I rubbed my forehead 

“Been too tired lately?” Neil asked. 

“Maybe. But you didn’t have to stick around.” I said casually, “It could lead to misunderstandings.” 

Under the dim light, Neil’s eyes looked hazy. I couldn’t make out his expression, but I heard him ask, “Would you rather have Russel with you?” 

He seemed to have some beef with Russel I wasn’t sure if it was because of me or Bonnie. 

I didn’t want to talk about it. Linda was waiting for me at the hotel. We had to leave early tomorrow for another city where our potential partners were 

These past few days, besides going home once, I’d been busy with Stella’s wedding. I hadn’t started on my work yet. Luckily, we still had plenty of time. I just needed to go over there in the morning. 

“I should get going “I opened the door and left. 

Once outside, I realized how cold it was. Even though it was spring, it felt like winter. The mansion was on a hilltop, so the wind at night was even stronger here. I was just wearing a thin bridesmaid dress. As soon as the wind blew, I got goosebumps all over. 

Just then, my phone rang. It was Stella, “Rena, are you awake?” 

Yes I’m heading to the hotel” I answered in the cold wind 

“I wanted Mitch to take you back, but he couldn’t wake you up, so he had to leave you with Nell. I’ll send someone to pick you up now!” Stella said. 

Was I that knocked out? 

Neil also came out, standing next to me. I gave him a puzzled look, then told Stella, “Stella, don’t bother. Neil can just give me a ride down the hill,” 

It was her wedding day, so I didn’t want to cause any trouble. 

After a bit more chatting, Stella suddenly started throwing up and had to hang up in a hurry. 

A warm coat suddenly landed on my shoulders, blocking the cold wind 

“Let’s go “Neil was now just wearing a formal gray shirt and black tie. He usually dressed up for occasions like this and rarely wore anything else. 

“Aren’t you cold? I asked, following behind Neil. 

“Not cold” He answered tersely. 

We then fell silent. As we passed by the site of Stella’s wedding earlier, I saw people still cleaning up. 

Once we got to Neil’s car, I tried to take off the coat, but he stopped me, “Keep it on. I don’t mind losing a coat.” 

Thinking of the baby in my stomach, I didn’t refuse. I put on his coat again. 

Halfway to the hotel, my stomach suddenly growled. 

I hadn’t eaten anything all afternoon and night, so I was starving. My hunger now felt completely different from before. 

I couldn’t help but say, “Neil, can you drop me off at a restaurant? I need to eat something.” 

Nel glanced at my stomach, then took me to a restaurant. 

When i saw the grand entrance of the restaurant, I refused to get off, “I don’t want to eat here. I want to grab a fast food meal. 

finally understood why Stella’s tastes changed so much when she was pregnant. It felt like there was a little man in my head making food orders, wanting to eat this one moment and that the next. 

Right now, I was really craving some greasy fast food from a street vendor. I didn’t care about any of that nutrition stuff. 

“Your stomach is already not doing well, and you want to eat that kind of unsanitary food?” Neil disagreed. 

“Don’t mind me I was irritated by hunger, said angrily, “If you won’t take me, I’ll get a cab!” 

I then tried to open the car door to get out 

Neil didn’t unlock the door. Unable to open the door, I cursed at him again, “Are you trying to starve me to death? We’re divorced, what do you care what i eat? You’re crazy! Open the door!” 

The doctor had told me that hormonal changes during pregnancy could cause significant mood swings So I couldn’t really be blamed for this. 

If I couldn’t eat what I wanted, I’d seriously start crying. 

Neil seemed taken aback by my reaction. He sighed and said, “Is it worth crying over a meal?” 

I was furious. I wanted to tell Neil right then and there that I was pregnant, and ruin the relationship he and Bonnie had worked so hard to build. 

I didn’t believe Bonnie could keep her cool if she knew about this. 

But reason told me that once I told him, I’d run into a lot of trouble myself. My newly started life might immediately turn into a mess. 

Seeing I was unstable, Neil had no choice but to drive me to a busy strect. All sorts of mouth–watering street food wafted tempting aromas around. I felt like I’d landed in heaven in an instant. I hopped out of the car and started to feast. 

Neil trailed behind me. Watching me linger in front of each food truck, he was frowning tight.
