After receiving the check, Audrey went to school. 

She met Sterling. Eden and a few others at the school gate.

Sterling grabbed the strap of her backpack, sl*pped the check into it. and said. “Don’t pay this money back to your father–in–law, use it to buy yourself some candy” 

Audrey, “You treated me like a kindergartener!” 

Sterling glanced at her collarbone, his thin l*ps curving slightly, “Still a child indeed.” He said, hands in his pockets, and quickly walked 

away. 

It took Audrey several seconds to understand the meaning of his words.
