Chapter Twenty-Two

He spins around like he didn’t expect me to hear what he said but I heard it near enough very clearly. His mouth opens and closes like a fish.

“That is none of your concern.”

“Right okay just fuck off prick you as well Niklaus. I can’t stand the sight of both of you at the minute.”

Damon starts heading out of the gym with Niklaus but Niklaus looks back with sadness and hurt in his eyes. Then Niklaus says.

“I hope she is going to be okay Michelle and I am very sorry.”

“I hope she is okay as well. And Niklaus thank you.”

“It’s no problem and call me Nik please.”

He says softly and I think I’ll take him up on that offer because saying his full first name is a lot of effort. Once he said that he turns and follows Damon out of the doors. Once the doors fully shut, I look back at Jen and see she seems to be coming around. I just wait for her to come back to consciousness.

Jen wakes up and she looks confused, it’s like she can’t remember anything from today.

“What happened, where am I?”

I look at her like she is stupid. She sits up and I ask.

“What’s the last thing you remember?”

“I remember you waking me up with a cup of coffee and breakfast then that’s it.”

Jen looks around and see’s that we are in the school gym.

“What the hell did you do and what are we doing in the school gym.”

“What I didn’t do anything.”

“Bullshit. Tell the truth.”

We both start laughing a bit then.

“What’s going on here?”

We both turn and see Mr. Tanner and the whole class standing at the doors. Jen and I look at each other and shrug. Jen gets up from her sitting position and we both turn towards Tanner.

“Just something that doesn’t concern you.”

I say to Tanner, I’m really not in the mood for anyone today. I had a feeling something would happen. Without another word me and Jen went out the doors into the changing rooms and grabbed our bags, without getting dressed we made our way outside, I am glad that we are outside now. We decide to walk over to a bench and sit down.

“So you can’t remember anything from today.”

“No all I can remember is you and Star waking me up with food and coffee.”

“Trust you to remember only that.”

“What can I say, it was such a surprise that it sticks hahaha.”

Me and Jen start laughing, when we stop I look at Jen with a worried look.

“What’s wrong?”

“What do you think!”

“Hay you know that doesn’t work on me so spill!”

“It’s just you have taken some really bad hits to your head and remembered but this time you just dropped and you forget nearly the whole day.”

“Sorry sis, I just don’t know what happened.”

“What do you mean you don’t remember?”

Oh great, the huge Prick is back. Me and Jen turn around only to find Damon and Niklaus standing there looking at us expectantly before making their way around the bench to stand in front of us. I see Jen slump in her seat but I’m as stiff as a plank.

“Fuck off it’s your fault anyway like I said before I don’t want to even look at you.”

I say to Damon with Jen glancing back and forth between us. I see Jen lunging for Damon but I hold her back.

“WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO ME, I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU.”

“Jen you need to calm down he didn’t hurt you he made you really angry so try not to get too angry.”

Nik says to Jen to try and calm her down but I needed to say something to keep her calm.

“He’s right Jen, you can’t get angry just breathe.”

She takes a couple deep breathes trying to calm herself down and it starts working slowly.

“There you go sis, just breathe.”

I loosen my hold on Jen as she slowly calms down.

“Jennifer.”

Jen stiffens as Damon says her name.

“I still remember you hitting me so don’t worry we still have bad blood and that’s not going away. Sorry did you think we’d be fine after that? Fuck you!”

“I’m sorry, I really am I just got angry and lashed out I never meant to hurt you.”

I can see the sincerity in his eyes and for some reason, I can feel he is actually being genuine.

“What a load of bullshit, just leave me the fuck alone I will never forgive you.”

Jen says before walking away, I heard her muttering.

“I won’t do that again.”

“What the hell do you mean again?”

Damon’s angry voice makes Jen freeze to her spot. Jen slowly turns around to face them and so do I from where I was stood. Jen looks to me first but I am looking at Damon then I see Jen look at Damon.

“It’s none of your business.”

“I think it is.”

“And why is that?”

Jen shot back at Damon leaving him looking for word that never come.

“There you go nothing to do with you, so keep out of my life.”

Jen turns back around and starts walking away she gets to the jeep and shoves her bag on the bonnet.

I turn back to the guys and say.

“If you think trying to get into our lives is good then don’t because we have always been trouble.”

With that said I turn and walk towards Jen and see her getting her phone and headphones out of her pocket.

“Jen you okay?”

“Fine can you take my stuff home the key is in there.”

“Sure but where are you going?”

“I need a run.”

I look at Jen for a small moment before nodding.

“Stay safe, I’ll see you soon.”

“Sure thing.”

I move Jens bag into the jeep whilst she is sorting her music out on her phone, Jen gives me a wave before she starts running towards the woods. I can tell she needs some time to think so I don’t stop her.

“What do you mean about trouble?”

I stiffen when I hear Nik’s voice behind me. I spin round to face him and see Nik, Damon and Ethan. Where has he been all this time.

“Just what I said. We have always been trouble. Anyone that gets to know us normally gets hurt and we don’t see them again.”

“But why and what did Jennifer mean about she won’t do that again?”

Damon speaks up this time. I look at him with an evil glare.

“That really isn’t any of your business Damon. All I can say it was family. That let us both down a long time ago.”

At this point I remember the picture in that room. So I decide to ask them.

“Anyway, question. Who’s room was I in when you lot kidnapped us?”

They all look at Nik. Mmm weird.

“Mine and sorry about that.”

“I would say it’s fine but obviously it isn’t but that’s not why I am asking. You have a picture on your unit next to the door. It’s of you three that other guy I think his name was Nate and an older man. That man is my dad why are you four in a picture with my dad?”

Next thing I hear is a-

“WHATTTTTTTTTTT?”

I swing around ready to punch whoever just screamed in my ear to notice it was the ever quiet Ethan. I look back at the other guys to show faces of shock on them. Turning back to Ethan I say.

“I always thought you were the quiet one, why did you just scream in my ear dickhead?”

“Erm, erm what do you mean it was your dad. That man in the picture is my dad.”

I look at Ethan like he has two heads. Did he just say that the man in the picture is his dad, no that can’t be it was my dad.

“Right erm how can that be?”

“Erm what was his name?”

“His name is Martin.”

He looks at me like I have two heads now. That must mean his dad’s name is Martin as well. But that means we have the same dad so I ask.

“What’s your mum called?”

“My mum’s name was Martha.”

Now it was my turn to scream but before I could get even a syllable out. I hear something.

“AHH YOU FUCKER!”

I spin round because that was Jen’s voice. I see the guys swing around as well. Next thing I know all I see is Jen on the ground with a huge wolf stalking towards her and blood coming from her right arm and as she leans up I can see blood coming from the top of her back as well. Oh shit.

Next thing I know the guys go running towards this huge arse wolf and jumping on it. Shit I need to get Jen out of there. I run over to her, luckily the guys are dealing with this big arse wolf. Once I am at Jen I help her off the ground and slowly walk her over to the jeep, once at the jeep I get Jen into it but I don’t jump in straight away. I look back over at the guys to see them stood around a limp wolf on the floor. I jump into the jeep and start it up but as I start it up there’s a knock on my window. I look over and roll the window down when I see Nik stood there.

“Follow us! We have a doctor that can help her.”

I look over at Jen and she gives me a small nod.

“Fine but fucking hurry.”

Nik nods his head before he runs to his car. I put the jeep into forwards, I keep glancing over at Jen whilst I am following the guys to where ever they are going.
