We sat perfectly still, blending into our surroundings, watching the idiots give themselves away. At least we now knew how they were hunting.

It would be a lot harder to take them down but I had never known easy. We listened to them bantering back and forth.

After everything calmed down the men sat down to have a break. “Did you see what they did to our second in command?”

“I’m sure it was Selina. Who else would kill him in such a way to make a statement,” a fat idiot groused.

“Yeah, right. She couldn’t even learn how to shoot a gun right. Didn’t you see her? She missed almost every shot.”

“What about her blades? She was pretty good with those,” the fat guy added as he pulled up the dead foliage and threw it over his shoulder.

“She was okay but she’s not one to kill. She’s too delicate and wouldn’t know how,” the other idiot stated, nodding his head to prove his statement.

“Come on. We need to keep looking for these men. The others will be here in less than three minutes and we don’t want them to see us sitting on our asses,” another guy told them.

The men got up and walked away, talking loudly.

Matheus tilted his head at me. I could tell he was wondering how I knew the idiots would have more men. I signed to him. I was telling him I got feelings from my surroundings. I told him I didn’t question it. He nodded and smiled at me.

I was sitting perfectly still thinking about what the idiot said about me. I was too delicate? I almost laughed at him. I could show him delicate and why I hid any talents I had. I decided to get my head on straight and watch for more idiots.

We waited for another ten minutes for the next round of idiots. We sat still and watched the band of idiots standing around - all five of them. We kept looking for more to come but there weren’t anymore with them. It would be difficult taking five at one time using blades. We knew we couldn’t shoot them. We waited to see what they would do. Of course, they sat down and smoked. They were talking about the bodies, scared they were next. It was why they were all together instead of two teams. We listened to them talk and joke. After fifteen minutes went by they got up and left.

Matheus signed at me, letting me know he was going to move a few trees down from me. He wanted to get behind them and seeing if he could take the stragglers down. I signed for him to be careful and if something felt wrong I would send up a signal. He nodded, stood up and walked through the animal highway, a walkway with limbs intersected.

I watched as Matheus walked through the trees. He was quiet. Quiet like the Shadow Cats. I was proud of him for his training. I didn’t know what I would have done if I had gotten stuck with a mate who couldn’t take care of himself. Train him, maybe?

I was scanning the trees and ground, waiting for the next bunch. I wanted a nap but now was not the time. I could have a good sleep when the fuckers were dead, after I danced on their graves, well, not on their graves. They didn’t deserve graves, unless it was one big one.

I scanned my eyes slowly around me, making sure I was still alone. I hadn’t heard anything in quite awhile. I decided to turn the radio I stole from the first guy I killed. I plugged in the ear piece and listened in on the monsters men. They were now in teams of six. We needed to combine teams. Instead of two people in a team we needed four.

I was about to press the mic on my neck piece when a chill went up my spine. I instantly went on alert. I was about to send the signal I was talking about to Matheus. I don’t think he planned on the signal I was about to send.

I took a deep breath and...
