Chapter 477

Lucas was waiting for her in his office.

When they finally saw one another, it felt like a lifetime had passed

'I'm sorry for worrying you, but I'm fine now," Anne said.

Lucas approached her to give her a hug.

Anne panicked and took a few steps back. "Let's not contact one another ever again. Nothing is ever going to happen between US."

He halted in shock. "Why?"

"We are not right for each other.”

“It's too odd a reason to turn me down." Lucas refused to accept.

"I just don't think I should get married after giving it some thought. I'm sorry, but that's all..." Anne turned to leave, and Lucas went to stand in her way.

"Why, exactly? Make yourself clear!”

"I realized that Anthony was the first one I thought of when I was in danger. I realized that I felt something different for him. I can't be with you while I have feelings for him." Anne was horrified by the idea that Lucas would mention the children because everything would be over if he did. "I'm sorry, Mr. Newman. I've wronged you, but I can't do this anymore..."

She took advantage of Lucas's dazed state and left the office before running out of the building. She did not stop until she was a distance away and placed her phone next to her ear. "Is that okay?" "Let's show him what feelings you have for me, then.”

"How?" Anne was at the brink of losing her temper.

"There will be chances.” Anthony ended the call.

Feeling all strength had drained from her body, she held back the tears and walked toward the kindergarten.

The triplets threw themselves at her feet in tears as soon as they saw her.

"Where were you, Mama?"

"We missed you!"

"You can't abandon us!"

Anne's heart ached as she crouched down to hold them. "I would never abandon you, no matter what. Remember that, okay? I just had something to take care of and forgot to contact you. I won't do it again."

The triplets buried their faces into her arms and refused to let go.

They had missed their mother.

Anne remained in the kindergarten with her children until after lunch and promised them that she would be waiting at home.

On her way home, she sat on the seat in the subway blankly, thinking that Anthony would not appear before her again before her wounds were fully healed.

To her bewilderment, she received a message from Anthony that very afternoon.

[I'll come over for dinner.]

She stared at the text message with resignation and thought to herself,” Does he have nowhere else to eat? Why does he have to come here?"

She pressed the keyboard angrily and replied, [Moving around too much will hinder the recovery of my wounds!]

ll will get someone to send over the food]

She threw her phone onto the couch in frustration, wondering why Anthony insisted on dining at her apartment, all the while knowing she was powerless to stop him.

At night, food from an unknown five-star restaurant arrived at her apartment, and every dish was an exquisite delicacy.

Not holding back, she ate to her heart's content.

Anthony shot her a look wardlessly but kept his word and left after finishing dinner.

Anne sighed a breath of relief before she heard Anthony say, "Walk me downstairs."

She bit her lips and followed him out of the building to find Anthony's expensive black car parked outside.
