Chapter 1475

Anne did not believe a word he said. “There are plenty more rooms here and even if

your room is damaged, you can sleep elsewhere.” She turned to leave.

“I can't get used to any of the other rooms,” Anthony said, his eyes glittering in the dark.

Anne was about to say something when Hayden overheard them and came over. "Ms. Vallois, Mr. Marwood either stay in his room or yours. He's probably used to it by now.”

Anne was stunned at the idea of Anthony sleeping in his room. Her heart wavered slightly when she thought of how his hair turned gray overnight but was still reluctant to share a bed with him.

“I'm going back and you can have the room, then,” she said.

When she reached the door, Anthony asked, “What are you so scared of?"

Anne stilled and stiffened before denying stubbornly, “I have nothing to be afraid of.”

Hayden shot the other servants a look, and they all left the room.

Anne watched as the servants left the room and sensed Anthony's stare focusing on her as he approached.

As a trained assassin, she could not allow herself to face her back toward potential danger, and she turned around to face the man before him.

His eyes were filled with storms of emotions. “If you really don't care about me, why are you so against being near me? I'm still on your mind, Anne.”

"What?" Rendered speechless by his logic, she said, “It's impossible. That's not...”

That could not possibly be a viable explanation as to why she refused to sleep with him.

“Is that so?” Anthony stared at her. “Anne, you are overreacting.”

Her breath caught in her chest at his words and for some unknown reason, she felt guilty as though Anthony had seen right through her. Losing her composure, her lips moved before her brain did. “Sleeping in the same bed doesn’t mean anything,” she said before. returning to her room, missing the smug look on Anthony's face.

Once they returned to the room, they went to shower separately and went into bed afterward without saying a word to each other.

Anne kept her eyes shut, but her brain remained active and would tense at the slightest movement.

Though Anthony had not done anything, he was still too close to her, and she regretted acting rashly, simply to prove that she was “innocent’

"You can't fall asleep?” he asked hoarsely.

Anthony had been keeping his eyes on Anne and felt complete even if he was just looking. at the back of her head. Though he could barely contain the longing coursing through his blood, he treasured what he had in the present.

Anne opened her eyes without a word, hoping he would think she was asleep.

An arm wrapped around her waist, startling her into turning around. Her breath caught when she noticed how close Anthony was.

As soon as she turned around, his lips were just within reach, and her heart threatened to

stop.

She pulled away and sighed a breath of relief.

Anthony swallowed hard and said calmly, “The teacher said that the triplets have been really happy at school lately. They have been talking about their mother to their classmates, which they rarely did in the past.”
