"You can't answer?” He studied her face intently.

“I don't know..." She looked away.

He took one step closer, his towering height looming over her. “Ashlynn, who taught you to lie to me?”

“I really don't know.” She took a step back.

"You do know. You just don't dare to explain because this has something to do with Jeremy.” “Nothing happened between us,” she insisted.

He narrowed his eyes, realizing that Beth would not have been the one who threatened to come if it was indeed Jeremy who tried to help Ashlynn.

Cory had purposefully mentioned Beth's name, so there might be more to the story. However, no matter the reason, Beth owed him his son's life and must have a death wish to try taking Ashlynn away from him.

“Call Beth yourself.” Corentin walked right past her and said casually, “I won't have to teach you what to say, will 17”

Once he walked past her, she sobered and said, “I can talk to Beth, but... you will have to delete the videos!"

Just then, she received a call from an unknown number, and she answered, “Hello?”

"Ashlynn, where are you?”

Startled by Beth's voice, she straightened her back. “L.. I am at Corentin’s mansion.”

“I will come and get you right away. Don't be afraid,” Beth said.

Ashlynn could not understand Beth's intention and said hesitantly, “Thank you, but I

plan on staying here and I won't go back to your house.”

"Did Corentin threaten you?”

“You can't stay with him. Come back. We will protect you. You have nothing to fear,” Beth consoled. Feeling increasingly confused, Ashlynn asked, “Auntie... Why... would you say that? I mean nothing to you.”

She began to suspect if Beth was truly going through such length for Meredith's sake, but if she was not, Ashlynn could not imagine what could prompt Beth to act this way.

“I told you that you are my... adopted daughter. It's not strange for me to protect you. The Hiltons stand with you, okay?” Beth's heart ached at being called “Auntie’ by Ashlynn.

Ashlynn wanted to argue that Beth had only offered to adopt her to humiliate her but decided against it in the end.

“Thank you. I am willingly staying by Corentin's side...” she said earnestly.
