Chapter 1268

Beth's face was frozen, acting out of the ordinary.

Marshall came back to see his wife's terrible expression and asked her caringly,” What happened? Are you unwell? Do you need me to get the physician over?”

Beth shook her head. “Nothing big. I just need some rest.”

“Have a day off tomorrow, don't stretch it.”

Beth had something on her chest that she could not tell him about.

She thought that it must not be the case.

If that was not the case, then she did not have the need to tell him about it.

The crescent birthmark. There could be not one... but two... or three... or even many people that have it.

It must be a coincidence.

In the middle of the night, Beth, who could not sleep, crept out of her room, to the guest room. She entered.

She turned the night light up slightly and saw Ashlynn, who was soundly asleep. Beth walked closer. She looked at the peaceful face and asked herself repeatedly, would this be the daughter that she had lost for over twenty years?

She reached her hand out and pulled Ashlynn’s collar on the back downward.

She first saw the red marks from the whipping and then saw the shoulder blade.

A tiny little red crescent appeared. Beth immediately covered her mouth. She was so afraid that she would let out a gasp.

Her body went soft, and she sat on the ground.

The person in bed was still fast asleep, completely unaware of what was happening in the room. Beth hastily left the room and crashed on the railing outside.

Her mind was occupied with the red crescent mark. Her eyes were out of focus.

Hearing it from Jeremy versus seeing it for herself had a very different impact on her.

Even though the test results were not out yet, he felt that his gut feeling could not be

wrong.

The person standing right in front of him was his lost sister.

“I told mom last night, you will sleep in the guest room from now on, and the chores will be done by the servants. You can stay here peacefully, don't worry,” Jeremy said.

“Did your mom... agree?” Ashlynn asked.

“She listens to his son,” Jeremy said with pride.

Even though Ashlynn was quite surprised, she was still very pleased that she no longer needed to do the chores and had her own room for better sleep.

Ashlynn was even dragged by Jeremy to the dining table to enjoy breakfast.

Marshall was still kind as ever and asked for her not to be restrictive.

Meredith was still mean. “Auntie must be so pissed off. Otherwise, why would she not choose not to come downstairs for breakfast? Ashlynn, how dare you sit at the dining table with us?”

Ashlynn pursed her lips and was feeling uneasy.

Jeremy said coldly, “If you don't like it, you can go back to your own home for breakfast!” "Jeremy, please get this straight. I am your sister, and she is an outsider! Who are you siding with?" Meredith could not stand him.

She thought that not only had he gone against her every time, but now he was even taking sides with Ashlynn. He must be going insane.

“I will take the side of whoever makes more sense.” Jeremy gave her a side-eye.

Marshall frowned. “Jeremy, why do you speak to your sister like this?”

Jeremy did not say anything more. He lifted his arm and poured milk for Ashlynn.” Have more of this. It is all organic.”

Meredith was so pissed that she could not continue the breakfast anymore and left.

Aunt Cher saw that and pursued.

They finished breakfast, but Beth was still nowhere to be seen.

Ashlynn, who no longer needed to do the chores, had plenty of free time, so she

stood on the lawn and stared into the emptiness.

Soon, she saw Beth coming out of the front door and walking to her car.

She felt as though Beth noticed her and looked over at her.

Ashlynn could not see her expression clearly and thought Beth must be pissed. Perhaps she was thinking of other ways to torment her.

After all, she lost it to her son and could not publicly fight with her.

That would be ugly.

After Beth got into the car, she felt her head spinning.

She did not dare to take another look at Ashlynn.

Her mind was occupied by the paternity test, she could not even work.

When she reached the office, Beth was so on edge that she did not know whether to

sit down or to keep standing.

She kept calling Jeremy to ask him whether the report was already out.

After ten minutes, Beth called again, “Why is it taking so long?”

“I got it.”

“You... You got it?"

“Wait for me at the office.”

He hung up. Beth did not even have the guts to ask for the outcome.

She even tried to guess if Jeremy hinted anything to her through the phone call.

She felt as though her head was splitting, and her hands and feet were shaking.

Jeremy came fast. Soon, the door opened.

Beth looked at her son, and the paper in his hands, frozen. She could not say a word, as though she was being cast into a statue, or as though she was waiting for the

death sentence.

Jeremy looked at her grimly. “Mom, Ashlynn... is my sister. This is the paternity test report.”

Beth took a step back. Her eyes rocked side to side as she looked at the paper that Jeremy had passed to her.

She received it with shaky hands.

The test result was too hard to miss, boldly printed on the bottom right corner.

Beads of her tears fell onto the paper as she sobbed, “She really... really is my daughter... She is my... little crescent... How did this...”

She collapsed before she could even finish her sentence.

“Mom!” Jeremy immediately went forward to catch her, then moved her to the

couch. “Mom...”

Marshall came in and saw this. “What happened? Jeremy, did you piss your mom off again?”
