Chapter 1238

Paul kicked him under the table and Owen swallowed his words.

Corentin, standing next to him, ordered a man to bring the juice and he himself handed the straw to Ashlynn’s mouth.

Ashlynn hesitated before biting the straw and taking a sip.

Owen was shocked, and he and Paul exchanged surprised glances.

After playing another round, Ashlynn became bored and asked, “Can I go back now?"

Corentin put down the juice glass and said, “No, we're not finished yet.”

“Mr. Lloyd, are you leaving so soon? I didn't even get a chance to play,” Paul asked.

“That's right, Mr. Lloyd. It's rare that you come out to play. It's Paul's birthday, and we have to play until midnight!” Owen added.

“I'm sorry, but your sis is pregnant, so she can't stay up late. We'll play next time,” Corentin explained before he and Ashlynn left the box.

Owen angrily kicked over his chair and narrowly avoided the table. “Now that Ashlynn is pregnant, Mr. Lloyd does everything she says!”

Paul shrugged noncommittally.

Owen touched his ear and winced at the still-painful wound that had dried blood on it.

He became increasingly angry and frustrated, feeling helpless and powerless against Ashlynn.

He would just have to wait for her to have a stroke of bad luck.

Just as Corentin and Ashlynn were about to pass through the bar lobby, they heard a man’s voice call out, “Ashlynn?”

Ashlynn turned to see Jeremy sitting in a booth with some friends who appeared to be his, though none of them knew her.

Jeremy walked over to them and said, “Is it really you?” He then looked at Corentin and said, “Mr. Lloyd, what a coincidence.”

“Yeah,” Corentin replied as he put his arm around Ashlynn’s waist. “I'm taking her out to have some fun.”

Ashlynn sensed Corentin’s possessive gesture but did not show any reaction as she said, “It's getting late. We have to leave.”

Jeremy watched as Corentin and Ashlynn left before returning to his seat.

He noticed that they seemed to have a good relationship, and since Corentin was engaged to Meredith, he felt a little sorry for Meredith.

What was the point of such a marriage?

However, he did not really like Corentin either. He always found the man mysterious and hard to understand, and he did not think any ordinary woman could handle him.

Jeremy felt that Ashlynn deserved better though.

'Why was she doing this?" he wondered.

After finishing his drink, Jeremy went home.

As soon as he walked through the door, he saw Beth coming down the stairs, still wearing pajamas. "Why aren't you asleep?” he asked.

“I can't sleep,” Beth replied as she walked to the bar and poured herself a glass of wine, which she quickly drank.

Seeing her like this, Jeremy walked over and asked, “Are you missing my sister again?”

“No, it's because of Meredith's situation this time. The more I think about it, the more panicked I feel, and I can't sleep. By the way, you've been at the Lloyd Group for a while now. Didn't you know that Ashlynn is with Corentin? You didn’t know about her pregnancy?” Beth said.

“Pregnancy?” Jeremy froze

He saw Ashlynn in the bar at night with a flat stomach.

Was she newly pregnant?

“Meredith just got engaged, and she got pregnant. Do you want her to suffer like that in the future?”

Ashlynn’s pregnancy was something Jeremy never expected.

He thought she left for another reason.

He felt uncomfortable all of a sudden.

“In that case, let the Hilton family cancel the engagement! She is pregnant, after all.”
