Once Rejected Now Desired By The Lycan King Chapter 8

Chapter

BETH

I sat in the corner of the room Ethan claimed to be my room and for some reason, I felt trapped because I knew that I didn’t belong here. How can a strange man appear from nowhere and decide single handedly to change my life?

I had never even heard anything about him until the night I was rejected cruelly by Darren. And this sudden possessive act is what I would never understand. I recalled how he spoke to Darren in a commanding manner, showing off his superiority which I didn’t know existed between Alphas until now, and how he kept on calling me his woman and even asked me to marry him.

I couldn’t bring myself to answer him on the spot because not only was I shocked, but I still

So Cara lied about her pregnancy, just to make Darren

hadn’t processed everything going on

call off the wedding-

And Darren, he doesn’t even seem to mind hearing another man call me his other than the fact that he was disrespected, he was willing to give me out of Ethan, a total stranger who looked dangerous, thought.

without a second

Even if Ethan was my second chance mate, I don’t think I want to have anyone in my life again. Falling in love or giving another man a chance is like placing my heart on the table for everyone to see and tamper with however they want. He might be saving me from Darren now, which doesn’t exactly seem so, but who knows what he would do to me next?

If Darren was capable of betraying despite all the years we spent together. If all the things het did for me turned out to be just a ploy, then who knows what this Lycan King would do to

me?

Right on cue, Ethan walked into the room with his commanding aura and I felt intimidated by his presence. Contrary to what I was feeling, my wolf was jumping excitedly inside, trying to break loose to be with her mate, and it was taking all of my self–control to put her in place.

I couldn’t understand why my wolf was getting so excited when we just got rejected by the one we had loved all this while, but turns out we think differently.

The door opened wider and this time, two maids came in with a tray of food, while the other one was holding a couple of clothes neatly folded in her hands.

Ethan signaled for them to drop it and leave, and they left hurriedly as if they were scared of making a mistake and getting him angry.

Is he that scary?

“How are you feeling?” He asked with a cold face. If he wasn’t the one who brought me here, I’d have assumed that he didn’t appreciate my presence here and that he wanted me to leave as soon as he could.

His face was as hard as a stone with an unreadable expression, which made him even more intimidating. He wasn’t glaring at me or anything, but his cold look was enough to make me shiver.

“I’m fine,” I answered him, jumping inside for not stammering as I spoke or showing any form of fear or anxiety that was eating me up.

“Good, you look so tiny, so you need to eat.” He said, pointing to the tray of food lying on the

bed.

Not only was he arrogant, but he was also rude.

I nodded in response, and drew the tray closer to me, as he watched me silently. His eyes didn’t break away from my face for a second, making it awfully uncomfortable for me to eat.

“Do you plan on staying there until I finish eating?”

“No, you can eat later, while I am gone but right now, you need to strip off your clothes.” He said with a straight face.

What the hell is going through his head?

“What do you mean strip? Why?” I was a bit shaken by his unfazed look.

“You can keep looking like that,” he said, pointing to my current outfit as if they were trash. “You need to take a shower and change into one of those dresses. After that, you can eat your food and relax. You don’t have to think about anything because everything will be alright,” he assured me, and there was something in his eyes that wanted me to believe him.

“Thank you,” I whispered as he turned on his heels to leave. As he pressed his hands on the doorknob, he stopped and turned back to look at me.

“I know you need time to recover and accept things, and I will give you all the time you need but I want you to prepare your mind that you will be with me till the end of time because you

are mine.

He left his words hanging in the air before leaving me to myself again. Why do I feel like I really don’t have a choice in all of this?

I couldn’t close my eyes for a split second all through the night as I kept on recollecting how I was disrespected and how to get back to that asshole. He started the fight, but I will be sure to end it.

A gentle knock by the door snapped me out of my truce but before I could answer it, the door cracked open, revealing Mark.

“Alpha, we have a problem.”

“What the hell Is it this time?” I snapped at him.

The pack is being attacked by a plague. Just this morning, I heard that ten kids died overnight for a reason yet to be known. We have called the doctors to attend to the other kids. who seem to be affected, but even with their years of experience, they can’t say for sure what the cause is.”

“They should do research, read books, and do whatever they can to find a cure. Does the plague only affect children?” I asked, feeling even more frustrated.

“So far, children are the only ones affected. The doctors said if in the next few hours, no adult complains about having a symptom or any problem, they will assume the plague is only affecting children and will focus on them. Mark explained.

“This is not good,” I muttered.

“That is not all,” Mark said, drawing my attention to himself.

“What is again?”

“The people are scared. The whole pack is in chaos right now. People mourning their children, people disturbed that this is just the beginning, some think maybe we are cursed and other things you need to find Beth and apologize for what happened. Either way, everyone blamed you for our current dilemma.” Mark finished, and I nodded.

Of course, that is what the people think. I began to hear noise from where I was standing. I moved over to the window, pulled the curtain, and found a crowd scattered outside protesting loudly.

A surge of anger coursed through my veins and I slammed the glass next to me on the wall, leaving the broken glasses scattered everywhere.

I shouldn’t have trusted Cara. I shouldn’t have allowed her to get into my head. That bitch is the reason why all of these are happening- I should have married Beth instead. I clenched my fist out of anger as I watched the crowd yell out their frustration.

I have failed my people.
