Summary
Teenager Chase Rowland is upset he must move to his mother’s childhood Caribbean home of East Island, a country he has never even visited before. Nothing, not the beauty of the island or the warm, welcoming people, or even the locals’ beliefs and legends about the island being home to supernatural beings and occurrences, is enough to change how he feels about his new home. That is until he meets Lyla Morgan, a girl who saves his life when he thought he was trying to save hers. After a brief, unexpected tension between the two, they fall in love, even after Chase discovers she isn’t even human. But soon after they begin their relationship, they discover Chase has somehow made a dangerous enemy who is using powerful forbidden magic to try to kill him and now must discover who it is and why they want him dead so badly before one of their attempts succeeds
