Chapter 0029 

“Get in the car.” 

Looking at the slightly awkward Samantha, Kendrick spoke coldly. He wasn’t nice to her at all. 

Samantha was fully aware of how bad Kendrick’s temper could get. She couldn’t hail a ride right now, anyway. Besides, someone was willing to send her home. She wouldn’t be so foolish to continue braving the cold wind outdoors. 

Samantha got into the car without a word. She sat by the window, silently putting some distance between her and Kendrick. 

“Mr. Ford… 

Jude wasn’t sure what Kendrick’s plans were. He wondered if he was planning to take Samantha back to Ford Residence. 

Kendrick maintained his poker face. Out of the corner of his eye, he glanced at Samantha. She was curled up by the door. 

Anger simmered in his heart quietly. “To Cloudtop Villas.” 

He thought himself crazy to care about this woman’s well–being. His expression turned darker upon that thought. 

Samantha leaned back against the seat, closing her eyes as she rested. She didn’t want to look at Kendrick, who was beside her. She didn’t want to talk to Kendrick at all either. If she started speaking right now, she would only insult him! 

The atmosphere in the car instantly fell into a terrifying silence. Only the hum of the engine generated some sound. 

The heater was turned on in the car. Samantha’s face, which was pale from the cold, gradually turned rosy. 

Jude sat in the passenger seat. Picking up on the sullen atmosphere in the car, he glanced up at the rearview mirror. When he saw the two straining themselves, he sighed faintly in his heart. 

The Maybach drove up to Cloudtop Villas. When Samantha saw the brightly lit villa in the distance, she couldn’t hold it in any longer. 

She said, “Stop the car. This is the place.” 

She was fine with being dropped off at the entrance. Kendrick could go wherever he wanted.

She didn’t want to stay with him in the car for a second longer. She would rather endure the cold and walk back home. 

Feeling uncertain, Jude turned to look at Kendrick. Kendrick’s expression was ominous, but he remained silent. 

“Stop the car, then,” he said in a small voice to the driver. 

The Maybach immediately pulled steadily to a stop. 

“Take care, Ms. Meadows,” Jude said to her in a professional tone while wearing a smile. 

Samantha didn’t respond and opened the door right away. She had included Jude in the list of people she hated. She felt that there wasn’t anyone decent around Kendrick. 

When her high heels touched the ground, Samantha paused for a moment. 

Samantha realized that Kendrick truly didn’t have any intention to speak. So, she got out of the car. She slammed the door with as much force as she could muster. 

“Go!” 

When Kendrick heard the door slam, his expression turned as dark as it could be. 

The driver felt his heart skip a beat in fright. He immediately stepped on the gas pedal in response. The car spun around and sped away, startling Samantha. 

Watching the tail lights disappearing in the distance, Samantha cursed under her breath. 

A chilly gust of wind blew past. Samantha’s b*dy was covered in goosebumps. She figured that she should return home as soon as possible or she might catch a cold. 

A small b*dy dashed into her arms as soon as she opened the door. 

“Mom, you’re back!” 

Hearing the soft voice, Samantha felt the heavy fog lift from her heart. She gently caressed Nathan’s head. 

“You’re back.” 

Francis walked up to the entrance in sl*ppers. His burgundy hair seemed to glow under the lights. 

His gaze swept over Samantha’s b*dy. With a hesitant look in his eyes, he appeared as though he wanted to say something.

“Yeah…” 

Samantha responded, taking off the high heels that had been torturing her for ages. She stretched comfortably. 

Francis‘ nose twitched, and his expression shifted a little. 

“You were drinking?” 

“Yes, a little.” 

Samantha smiled. She took Nathan’s hand and didn’t say more as she walked in. 

Francis narrowed his eyes momentarily. He ultimately decided to hold back what he was about to say. There were water stains on Samantha’s clothes. Her hair and makeup were a little unkempt as well. He could see that the banquet didn’t go too 

well.
