I lay back and stare at the stars. Sammy came over to join me. She was happy.
“Sammy, I once believed that every star was the spirit of a great warrior who died in battle. They remain up there to let other heroes find their way. Some day I will go up there to join my ancestors.”
Josh then came to join us also.
“There are so many people up there who died defending us. Keeping humanity safe from itself. We fight to end it all. To restore peace.”
Josh replied” We are with you until the end no matter the cost. In life or death.”
Sammy nodded. I realised that if I was the supposed queen of the mystics then couldn't I call everyone to arms. To rejoice in a final battle.
I waited for everyone else to fall asleep, I got up and went to the water's edge. I knelt down beside it and stared at my reflection praying for guidance. Eryl and Athena walked either side of me. I did not turn to greet them.
Athena spoke calmly” You are not alone. We are all here for you. If you wish we can send on of the marble scouts to search for your friends.”
“Thank you” I did not look up.
Eryl spoke, “We can send you to the correct path but it is you who must follow it to its end.”
I finaly perked up the courage to ask a dying question “Are there more than one of each element?”
Athena replied “Yes but not all of them know it. There are a male and female of each .having different aspects of the power together making them a powerful pair.”
“But my partner is gone; I killed him.”
“My Queen there will always be a partner. Another ethera will have full power just as you do.”
“Who are they where are they?”
“Now that you must find out for yourself.”
Just as I was about to speak Eryl's eyes went black and he spoke unconsciously.
“Queen will conquer Our king
The age of terror will end
Royal blood taken common blood spared
a great alliance will trust
all are cloaked in lies
new beginnings when only tales of old die
sliding bonds fuse
but all will fail if the deceiver walks the dead road”
The coldness left his eyes and he nodded to me then both of them left me. What does it mean Royal blood taken common blood spared?
I returned to the others and fell between them and fell asleep lost to the land of dream.
I rose from my body but it was still night. I saw myself lying there on the ground but I was here. There was a rustling in the bushes so I turned around and a girl and boy stepped forward. They walked up to me and bowed.
“Welcome Queen of the Mystics we have long anticipated your arrival.”
“Who are you”
“We are dream weavers we travel through the lands appearing to all Mystics in need of guidance. We know about the voices you hear.Sye.The psychic.If you wish we can release him but it comes at a price.”
“What must I do?” I asked sceptically
“All you must do is give in.”
“Give in to what”
“You know what. You may call upon us in sleep whenever you wish but if he is released you become ensnared in the dream world.”
“Why do you come to me now?”
“Only now can we do it. He will not lie forever. He can hide in your mind but soon the nightmare weavers will find him. If they do they will kill him in a way so brutal his powers will disappear. We must go but just think about it.”
I woke the next morning and looked around for the dream weavers but I could not find them. The sun was just rising but everyone was awake. I went to join them. They were gathered by the grave. I looked down at it and saw the primroses.there were so many now. But in the centre was a strange flower. It was dark blue.
Eryl came over to me and said “Time to train”
I nodded my head and left to join him at the centre of the island. He knelt down to look into the water. I crept down to him. He pointed at the water but I saw nothing there. I tried to push his finger away but he just put it back to the exact same spot. I looked to where he was pointing but saw nothing.
I heard Sye “Look harder” I focused on the exact spot he was pointing but still nothing. I thought about everything I knew and had learnt so then said ”ihe niile di na otu" this time when I looked I saw something not just something. I saw everything. All that has been, all that is and images of what could be.
I saw Shelly standing there facing someone who was surrounded by dead plants and creatures. We were talking but I couldn't tell what we were saying then I said something and a flash of light appeared and I was gone. Only Sye remained. Could this be the deceiver? The one who will walk the dead road. is this what will happen if we fail.
But how would we fail there is no quest awaiting us. I looked up from the water to and Eryl was smiling.
"Did you see that as well?"
"Not if you don't want me to."
"Is that future what will be or what could be?"
"Now, that my queen is for you to decide."
He then got up and left me to my thoughts. Was this the beginning of a great war? If so what were we fighting for?
I heard some strange voices so turned around towards the gateway and to my delight, I saw ash strike and Hydra walking through. I jumped up and ran towards the throwing myself into Ash's arms.
"OMG, it's been so long where have you been, "Ash asked.
"Long story but let's just say I was kidnapped and they tried to kill me. Ummmm... I met these guys(I pointed towards the others) and found this place."
Hydra walked up to them and said: "So what are your names and powers?"
"I'm Josh and I can detect sound and I am one of the banshee twins"
"I'm shelly the normal human"
Hydra turned to Sammy but she can't speak so I said: "And this is Sammy the other Banshee twin she emits noise but she isn't very good at controlling it so she doesn't speak."
I ran over to strike and gave him a piggyback over to Athena and Eryl.
"I am Athena and this is Eryl we are keepers of Mystic knowledge."
Hydra put her hand out trying to greet hem but they just bowed to her. She pulled her hand back and looked bit smug. I lead them over to our roast rabbit where they fell to the ground out of pure exhaustion.
Strike, Eryl and josh seemed to be having a bro talk by the water and Athena was giving advice to Ash and Hydra. I left the group to go and stand by the water. I stared at my reflection again seeing how much I have changed over these three months. My hair was imprinted with the stars and My eyes were no longer grey. They were a deep purple and my skin was very pale. I barely recognise myself. Athena walked over to me and said: "What do you see?"
"I see me but it doesn't feel like me. I haven't changed. I'm still just a boring orphan."
"You are"I stared at her in annoyance,
"No much of a pep talk."
"You are a boring orphan but that is not the only thing that defines who you are. You are a Mystic you are a powerful being and you are our Queen."
"But why am I your queen?"
"I'm going to tell you a story about the first Mystics. Back in the year 1AD, a child was born. She had purple hair from birth and people were very scared of her. Her village was very small and so everyone knew who she was. She tried many times to hide who she was but she always stood out. She was not born to be one of the masses.
When she was 20 two more children in her village were born with supernatural abilities, There hair was blue and red. Their parents sent them to live with her. She raised them as her own then Two more children were born one with white hair and a twin with brown hair. The parent sent both of them to live with her as the parents were both blondes so feared them.
When the two children turned 7 years 247 days something happened. Everyone gained powers Through freak events. They lost their memories of everything but they kept a single word. Their new names.Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Ethera.Ethera was the oldest of them so they followed in her footsteps. She kept her memories and was able to teach others how to use their new abilities. Sadly one day when they were practising their powers they all combined and no-one had the strength to contain the power so it destroyed them all. Ethera was able to destroy the power waves but the village was wiped out and so were the other children. She wept for many days then met a young adult about 25.They became very close.They helped eachother whenever they could but one day Ethera never got out of bed.The girl went to her room and saw her wreathing in agony.The girl went up to her and saw there was only on thing she could do.She placed her hand on Etheras chest and the screaming stopped.The first mystic was saved by death.passed away from old age.
Her powers are very unique. They can only pass through blood so after 100 years a blood relation was born strong enough to take on the powers. Over time some of the powers began to split forming sub-Mystics so Strike and Sye. The powers would disappear for hundreds of years at a time but now all the Mystic abilities exist at once. This has not happened since the first Mystics. The big five.
Void you are a direct descendant of her and so was your brother. This made you the rightful king and Queen of all Mystics."
"Woah wait so I hold the power of the first Mystic?!!"
"Yes but from what I have already seen you will be even more powerful."
"This is so much to process so I'm your ruler and your fine with that even though your like twice my age."
"Why wouldn't we be."She then bowed before me and the others also. I felt I didn't deserve this. Athena rose and lead me to a large tree that grew in the centre of the lake. It was at least 20ft round and triple that tall. there were some branch stairs that went up to a throne. I looked back as all the other watched proudly to see what I had become. I turned around and sat on the throne wearing my grey hoodie and jeans. I did not look or ac like any queen yet they still treated me as such.
Just as I got comfortable a teenage boy ran into the grove out of breath Athena went to attack him but I told her to stand down. I got out of my seat and walked over to him. He had a large cut running down the side of his face and his hand looked dead.
Once he had caught his breath he showed me his ability. He was what I thought could be life as he rose a dead turtle from the dead.
I then asked, "What happened?!"
"She's back no mistaking that."
I was confused "Who?"
"Seraphina"
"Who's Seraphina?"
Athena looked very worried and said "She is one of the few Mystics who turned evil and when they go bad their power changes. She was the female Earth element but now she controls death to everything she touches. Nate here put her in a cage constantly replenishing itself so she could never escape but she must have got enough power to break free.
My Queen, we are all in great danger. If she continues to wander the earth with no one to stop her she will destroy all life on earth leaving it to be a bleak wasteland or in other words her own paradise."
Maybe this was the war the prophecy spoke of. But that would mean one of these people is lying to us and will lead to our destruction. They cannot wander free. If I do not find them all will be lost and the world will be left to suffer the wrath of Seraphina. The lady of death.
