Chapter 59 Double Blow

Byron froze for a moment.

"What nonsense are you talking about?"

He slammed the table hard.

Liam shuddered, and then he was sure that Byron really had

no idea about this.

But Byron and Athena were so close!

How could he have no idea about this?

How could it be possible that he didn't know about Athena's grandmother's death?

Liam still remembered that Athena had lost a lot of weight

back then...

"Oh, right. I remembered. When her grandmother passed away, you were still in Europe."

Byron couldn't believe this was real.

"Liam Carson, I'm not in the mood to joke with you!"

"I wish I could. But Miss Newton asked me for leave in person, saying that she would hold the funeral of her grandmother..."

"Impossible!"

Byron stood up and shouted sharply.

But then, he suddenly remembered the photos that Athena

had posted on her Instagram at the end of April, which he had seen the night before yesterday.

Those photos were all greyish, with a hint of unconcealable sadness.

"Call Athena!" Byron said in a deep voice.

Liam nodded and quickly took out his phone.

He made the call, but the cold notification sounded again.

Athena's phone was switched off again.

"She turned off her phone." Liam looked at Byron in fear.

"Check her whereabouts immediately. I want to know where she is as soon as possible." Byron's voice was so cold that it could almost freeze the air around him.

"Yes, sir!"

Liam turned around and went out.

Byron stood where he was, unable to calm down his

breathing.

In the end, he kicked the shelf hard and knocked it over.

The employees outside heard the commotion inside and all

fell silent.

After a while,

somebody came upstairs through the president's special

elevator.

Then, Gideon came out of the elevator in a hurry.

"Mr. Hale, why are you back?"

"Is Byron in the office?" Gideon asked.

"Yes, but sir..."

Before the secretary could finish speaking,

Gideon went straight to the Office of the President.

As soon as he pushed open the door,

he saw the mess inside.

It wasn't hard to tell that Byron had lost his temper.

At this moment, Byron was on the phone.

However, Athena's phone was still switched off.

"Why are you here?" Byron glanced at Gideon.

"Where's Athena?" Gideon asked.

Athena again!

"Why are you asking me? I also want to know where the hell

she is!"

"She didn't come back?" Gideon asked in surprise.

"What do you mean?" Byron realized something was wrong.

Gideon tugged at his hair and seemed extremely annoyed.

"Athena was kidnapped last night. Do you know about this?" Gideon asked in a sharp voice. The blood in Byron's body seemed to freeze instantly.

"Kidnapped?"

He quickly walked up to Gideon and grabbed his collar. "Say that again! Who was kidnapped?"

"That local gang leader named Arlan Forcina found someone to kidnap Athena!" Gideon said in a deep voice, "When the rescuers arrived, she was trapped in the car that was about to explode. She almost died! Byron, how could you not know about this? She called me! So she must have called you as well, right? How the fuck could you not know?

"Didn't you arrange someone to protect her in Salin City? Why didn't they protect her?"

Every word Gideon said seemed like a bomb that blew up Byron's mind.

"Telephone..."

Byron quickly took out his phone and found the call from last night.

"This is it!" Gideon said loudly, "What were you doing at that time? You answered the phone! Then how could you not know that Athena was kidnapped?" "I was taking a shower. And Heather..."
