Chapter 434 He Had No Choice!

Byron knew exactly how to lure Athena in. But she couldn't help but take the bait, even though she knew it was a trap.

Because Athena was very worried that Byron would take his anger out on Evie and set up a scheme to harm her.

After a twenty-minute drive, Athena arrived at her destination.

There were already people waiting at the entrance of the parking lot.

Wearing a mask and sunglasses, Athena was led to her designated parking spot.

Once she parked, Athena saw Byron standing at the elevator, waiting for her.

She wondered if she was imagining things.

Byron seemed to have lost weight, and he looked even more worn out.

Athena took off her sunglasses and, in high heels, walked briskly towards him. "Where's Evie?"

Byron didn't say anything.

Instead, he took a mourning band from his hand and pinned it on Athena's arm.

"What are you doing?" Athena had attended three funerals before, so she knew that only relatives wore mourning bands.

"Well, since you're here, let's just consider it for Grandma," Byron said softly, his voice hoarse.

He might not have been resting well these past few days.

"Where's Evie?" Athena didn't take off the mourning band. Instead, she asked him again.

"She's upstairs," Byron replied.

"If you dare to harm Evie, I won't let you off!" Athena warned.

Byron looked at her.

He deliberately put on a pitiful demeanor.

"When have I ever harmed your friends?" Byron asked.

Anger immediately surged in Athena's eyes.

"Wasn't it you who hurt George's hand?"

"He's different!" Byron's gaze darkened, and then he seemed to remember something. "Do you have to argue with me at Grandma's memorial service?"

Athena locked eyes with him.

Then she ignored him and walked straight to the elevator.

Because today was Alivia's funeral, when Athena left the house, she chose to wear all black. It was perhaps destined in the mysterious workings of fate that she would ultimately come. As she exited the elevator, she saw a large photo of Alivia at the entrance.

Athena stopped for a moment in front of the photo.

Alivia in the picture still looked grace.

"Mr. Crawford, it's time. The funeral service is about to begin," a staff member ran over and said.

"Okay."

Byron responded.

Athena was about to ask where Evie was.

Suddenly, a large hand enveloped her right hand.

Athena looked at Byron in shock.

The next second, Byron took her hand and led her towards the area for family members to pay their gratitude.

"Byron, what are you doing? There are guests everywhere! Are you crazy?"

Athena tried to break free.

But out of her expectation, Byron lowered his voice without the slightest hint of retreat in his tone. "Yes. There are guests everywhere. I think you don't want to ruin Grandma's farewell, do you?" Athena felt speechless.

She pinched Byron's palm hard. "You're despicable!"

"Yes, I'm despicable." Byron was still unreasonable.

Given the current situation, he could only resort to such despicable means.

Five years had passed. She had married and had a daughter!

If he didn't act cunningly, she might even have a second child next year.

So he had no choice but to be despicable.

He had to weave a huge net, trapping her and leaving her with no escape.

Then, the funeral service began.

Athena stood side by side with Byron in the area designated for family members to express their gratitude to the guests.

In the beginning, the guests at the funeral service thought that the person standing next to Byron was Freya.

But as they got closer, they were shocked to realize that it wasn't Freya.

Athena was wearing the same mourning band as Byron, which meant they were a married couple.

People came in waves.

Then they left with different expressions on their faces.

Until the next couple came...
