It was very rare for Candice to be this direct. She silently grabbed her things and was going to leave.

However, she could hear Sonia’s trembling voice and said, “Ms. Renault, I know you don’t like me, but….”

She said nothing after she paused for a long time. Candice turned around as she calmly continued what she was going to say. “But I shouldn’t say that to you?”

Sonia said nothing, but her expression was quite obvious. That was what she believed.

“If I don’t say that, does that mean your professional competence won’t be that bad?” Candice said nonchalantly. She wasn’t emotionally invested in this conversation anyway, but she simply reminded Sonia of something. “You can’t stay in Aether for long with that level of competence.”

After she left, she didn’t want to think about how Sonia would have sobbed and told Alex about how sorry she felt. She took the documents back to the hotel and was then going to head to the hospital to get her dressings

changed.

She could change it herself. However, she wasn’t in a good mood and didn’t feel like doing it. Since she didn’t want to stay at the hotel anyway, she decided to simply go to the hospital.

But she had just reached the hospital when she received a call from Hanley, asking if she was going to the

studio today.

Candice was on sick leave and didn’t need to go to work anyway. She couldn’t be bothered if Alex

remembered, since he had Sonia by his side.

After agreeing to it, Candice went over after she changed her dressings.

It was still the same group of people, but she heard Nadia’s annoyed voice the moment she stepped in. She could even hear Ryan’s retorts, but she didn’t see Hanley anywhere.

Candice stopped at the door, hesitating to ask if she should go in.

Nadia discovered her first and directly greeted her. “You’re here, Ms. Renault? The boss has just gone out

since he just got a project. He told us that once you’re here. Just Join us.”

Candice nodded. “Thanks for letting me join, then.”

Nadia was someone generous and sincere. Once she knew what Candice wanted to learn about, she spent the

entire afternoon teaching her about the basics.

When Candice was going to leave, as it was getting late, she even added Candice on WhatsApp, saying that they could communicate using the app.

However, she met Hanley, who was on his way back the moment she had just left through the door.

Hanley was still wet. When he saw Candice was going back, he said, “It’s raining out there. Let me send you

back.”

Stugan City had plenty of rain during summer. As such, Candice didn’t refuse.

Hanley was not someone talkative. After talking a little about art exhibitions, he said nothing else.

However, once they arrived at the hotel, because the rain was getting heavier, he had to stop the car closer to the hotel’s front door. Only then did he let Candice get out of the car.

In the end, Candice saw Alex coming out of the hotel with Sonia behind him the moment she stepped out of

the car.

Alex stopped when he saw her and looked at Hanley’s car behind her.

Candice looked down before greeting him. “You’re going out?”

Alex raised an eyebrow and then said, “Candice, do you think you can skip work at any time because of your competency at work?”

It was as if he was mocking her like how she had said Sonia was incompetent in her work this morning.

Alex was protective of Sonia, as expected. He wouldn’t even allow one word of criticism to touch her. Candice paused for a second before saying. “I’ve asked for a day off that day.”
