Chapter 26 Embarrassment

Soon, the dishes were all served. For the sake of showing off, Cedric ordered a bottle of wine that cost over three thousand. He was even eager to tell everyone where the wine was from. Christopher couldn't help but sneer inwardly. Why would someone show off a bottle of wine that costs a little over three thousand?

The four of them finished their meal about one hour later. After they were done eating, Eleanor took a sip of wine and flashed a mischievous smile before sighing. "The market is really bad this year. Cedric's company only made over two million in profit this year. Prior to that, they were making over three million annually! Last year, we could afford a bottle of wine that cost around six thousand. I'm afraid we can't spend as lavishly this year!"

"Surely things will improve next year." Julianna smiled awkwardly. Obviously, she knew Eleanor was just flaunting.

Upon hearing that, Christopher couldn't help but laugh inwardly. If Eleanor knows Julianna's family has a piece of land in Dragon Valley, she's going to be shellshocked! "Oh, right! What are you working as, Christopher?" Cedric smiled and asked.

"Me? I'm not working at the moment." Since Christopher had just retired from the army, he had been jobless.

Eleanor immediately responded, "You mean your wife has been providing for you? That's not right. You're a man, so you should be making money for your woman to enjoy life! How can you remain jobless? Darling, the company is hiring, right? Should we let Christopher go for an interview? Although the market isn't doing well, we can still offer him a monthly salary of four thousand, right? We can do that for Julianna's sake."

"Well, we can even offer him up to eight thousand! However, he needs to have an academic background. Christopher, what did you study at university?" Cedric was quite happy that he had put Christopher in a spot.

In fact, Cedric enjoyed doing that especially when he had a beautiful lady sitting right in front of him. He was very proud of himself because of how useless the lady's husband was.

At the same time, Eleanor pretended as if she had just realized something. "Oh, right! Well, all the companies are looking for university graduates nowadays. Julianna, I feel so bad for you. Back then, you were the prettiest girl in the faculty. I can't believe how things have turned out for you!"

Julianna immediately turned pale, and she couldn't find the words to refute her. After all, Christopher really had no academic background. Besides, she had been ridiculed for the past three years. At that moment, all she could do was clench her fists and endure the humiliation.

"I think joining the army isn't that bad, though," Christopher uttered calmly.

"Oh? What's so good about it?" Eleanor asked mockingly.

"We protect the country. Without us defending the country, how could we possibly enjoy a nice dinner with each other now?" Christopher replied.

Eleanor felt aggrieved upon hearing that, and she was at a loss as to how to respond.

"All right. We're done with dinner, aren't we? Waiter, please get me the check," Cedric smiled and uttered.

Seeing that Cedric had spent over five thousand for the dinner, Eleanor said, "Hey! We've only spent over five thousand?"

"It's all right. Look over there. That's Globetrotter Winery. Since this is a gathering, I'll bring you guys there to take a look. That's a place for the high society of Jadeborough!" Cedric uttered with a smile. "Really? Darling, I've been wanting to go there! Since we're both local, we must visit Globetrotter Winery!" Eleanor exclaimed excitedly.

Eleanor was worried that Julianna was unwilling to tag along. Hence, she instantly dragged Julianna toward Globetrotter Winery after finishing her sentence. At the same time, Cedric said, "Christopher, you've never been to Globetrotter Winery, right? Let's go. This will be an eye-opener for you."

Christopher sneered inwardly. Does he want to bring me to Globetrotter Winery to widen my horizon? I'm the owner of Globetrotter Winery!

The receptionists stopped them from entering when they arrived at the entrance. Of course, those from earlier in the day had been removed. "Hi! I'm sorry, but Globetrotter Winery is full tonight, so only people with VIP cards are allowed to enter. May I know if you have a VIP card?"

Cedric's cheeks flushed all of a sudden. He brought everyone there to show off, but it turned out that only VIP card holders were allowed to enter. He quickly asked, "How do I get a VIP card?"

"For the red VIP car, you would have to spend at least five million. As for the gold VIP card, you would have to spend at least ten million. May I know which one do you prefer?" the receptionist asked politely. Cedric panicked when he was told that he would need to spend at least five million to get a VIP card. Although the Jeeves family was considered well off in Jadeborough, they were only worth ten million at most.

"Since Globetrotter Winery is so crowded, perhaps we should just go elsewhere. I know a nice place to chill!" Cedric suggested in embarrassment.

"That's right. Globetrotter Winery is too packed!" Eleanor chimed in with a smile.

"That's all right. We-" Julianna breathed a sigh of relief inwardly because she finally had a reason to leave. She was sick of seeing Christopher being humiliated by Cedric and Eleanor. Christopher, however, smiled and interrupted her speech and said, "Wait. I have a VIP card."
