Angus and I had been spending a lot of time together since we took that nap together. Although it had almost been three weeks, I still wasn’t used to him being 15 years older than me. Thankfully there was one person in my life that went through the same thing.

“Thank you for coming, Pawpaw. You’re the only person that I could come to with this. Everyone else just tells me that I need to get over it. I understand that our situations are a little different but, how did you handle Grandpa being so much older than you?” I asked him as we sat down on the couch. Mom was with us sitting on the chair. He had to make sure that what Pawpaw told me wasn’t from the coma dream he had when Mom was little. He was fine for years but as he began to get older, his mind slowly began to blend his dream and reality again.

“Well, it wasn’t easy. Your Grandpa Kade being my teacher certainly didn’t help. But our situation was also very messy, my parents were abusive and he saved me. He helped me get away from them and kept me safe. After that, our ages didn’t really come to play, we were just us. That is until we adopted your mom.” Mom frowned at his words and he sat up slightly towards Pawpaw.

“Dad, you met Papa in college, he was your professor, remember?” He said, Pawpaw frowned and shook his head.

“No, no. I remember Kade was my high school history teacher. He saved me from my parents and on our first dinner together we met you.”

“Dad, you and Papa did meet me through the foster family I was with but it wasn’t at a dinner.” Mom sighed sadly and gave me a look that asked for me to give them the room.

My bedroom door opened after Mom knocked. “Hey, Bean. I wanted to talk to you about Pawpaw.” I nodded and gestured for him to sit at my desk that was across my bed.

“What’s up? Also, I’m almost twenty years old, you can stop calling me Bean.” I chuckled, Mom had this really bad habit of calling all of his kids by the nicknames we were given while he was pregnant with us.

Sometimes I thought it was sweet, knowing that he and Pa would always love us as much as they did when they first found out about us. But there were other times that I didn’t like it, I felt like I needed to be treated like an adult, not a baby, which is what the nickname made me feel like.

“You will always be my Bean. I wanted to tell you that I think it was very sweet of you to ask him how he dealt with the age gap in his relationship. But you need to keep in mind that his age gap is only eight years, not fifteen. No one can tell you how you’re supposed to be feeling about this situation. But if you really want to talk about it, I’m here for you.”

“Thanks, Mom, but I was doing some thinking after you asked me to leave. And you’re right, I shouldn’t ask others how I should feel. Angus is my mate and my wolf side is completely head over heels. But my human side can’t help but view him as the person that took away my bonding time with Oliver. I wasn’t able to do so much growing up because he came here at the wrong time.”

“That’s fair, but you should try to look at it from his point of view. That day, he had been away from his mate for eleven years. We had only just given him an item with your scent for the first time. Before he had that blanket, he was dying Felix. You are literally his lifeline, just as he is yours.”

He was right, I needed to stop thinking like the eleven-year-old that stood in the living room frozen. I needed to start thinking like the almost twenty-year-old I was. Angus was my mate, even if I had known years earlier that I was meant to.

He was the person that was made for me. The person who was supposed to know me better than anyone. The person I was happily going to spend the rest of my life with.
