Colin's smile looked playful and cheeky.

Faye looked at him and an old-time question about the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law came to her mind, "If I fell into the water with your mother, who do you save first?" The two looked at each other, Faye didn't think much about it and smiled, "Are you jealous?"

Colin lowered his eyes, avoided Faye's gaze deliberately, and answered with an "um". Then, he asked in a low voice, "So, who is more important in your heart?"

Faye moved her lips slightly and replied, "You."

A gloomy expression flashed on Colin's face. He didn't lift his head and asked, "Really?"

Faye explained, "All of them will eventually have someone they love by their side. My task is to take care of the one that I love."

Colin squeezed Faye's fingertips and said, "Um."

Faye could feel that Colin didn't seem right on that night.

However, she didn't think much about it and just thought that he was uncomfortable because of Tanner.

After dinner, Faye went into the bathroom to take a shower. Colin came downstairs and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows to smoke.

Colin was fascinated by the night scene outside the window, and the phone in his pocket vibrated.

Colin bit on his cigarette, took out his phone from his pocket and glanced at it with his eyes narrowed.

Ethan: [Lance has returned to the Langfords.]

Colin tapped the screen with his fingertips and replied, "Got it."

Ethan: [Don't worry. Someone is watching him.]

Colin: [Andy?]

Ethan: [Um.]

Seeing Ethan's reply, Colin chuckled lightly and bit on the cigarette at the corner of his mouth. He asked, "Are you sure that Andy will keep an eye on Lance?" Ethan: [Unless he wants Lance to die.]

Ethan's words were harsh and made Colin sneer. Colin sent a reply saying, "It's a society ruled by law. We are civilized."

Colin sent the text out, but Ethan didn't reply.

Colin stared at the phone for a while and put the phone into his pocket.

After Colin finished his cigarette, he turned around and put out the cigarette in the ashtray on the coffee table. He glanced at the lighted kitchen and said solemnly, "Cindy, there is ash around the floor-to-ceiling window."

Cindy looked out from the kitchen when she heard him and said, "Okay, Mr. Farrell. I'll be there after I take care of the kitchen."

After Cindy finished speaking, she smiled and retracted her head back to the kitchen.

Colin stood for a while with his hands in his pockets and walked towards the kitchen.

When Cindy heard the noise, she turned around and saw Colin was already standing at the door of the kitchen. She was stunned for a moment. Then, she hurriedly stepped forward, "Anything else, Mr. Farrell?"

Colin asked, "Cindy, do you think we need to hire another helper?"

They had already hired a cleaning service to clean the house. Cindy's daily tasks were to cook and watered the flowers. When she heard Colin's words, she looked panicked and said, "Mr. Farrell, is there anything I didn't do well? Please tell me. I'll get it right."

Colin smiled and said, "No. Don't think too much. I'm just worried that you get too tired by taking care of such a big house by yourself."

Cindy sighed after hearing that and said, "It's fine. There isn't that much work actually."

After that, Cindy glanced at the second floor and added, "Besides, Mrs. Farrell doesn't like too many strangers at home."

When she finished speaking, Colin nodded and replied, "Um."

Cindy was a good observant. She knew that was something wrong with Colin that night. She knew the reason Colin told her all those nonsense was probably delaying the time to go back to the bedroom. She knew it well, but she didn't dare to ask. She smiled at Colin before continuing to clean up the kitchen.

Colin stood at the door of the kitchen for a while. Then, he stepped forward and strode upstairs.

Hearing Colin's footsteps walked away, Cindy raised her hand, patted her chest, and said to herself, "Luckily, I am smart. Otherwise, there will be another person to take over my job."

On the other side, Colin was in front of the bedroom door, but he didn't push the door open.

He was looking at the door and adjusted his mood for a while. Then, he took a deep breath and pushed the door open.

In the bedroom, Faye had just come out of the shower. She looked wet, standing in front of the bedside table, and bending over to look at her phone.

Colin glanced at Faye's long and fair legs under the bath towel. For the first time, he was full of urges, but he didn't dare to act rashly.

He found himself too guilty.

He didn't even have any strength to carry himself.

When Faye heard the door being pushed open and didn't hear anyone entering for a long time, she turned her head subconsciously, "Huh?"

Colin retracted his gaze and walked over to the bed. He lifted the quilt and covered himself. He closed his eyes as if he had no desire and was determined. Faye raised her eyebrows and felt confused.

When Faye was staring at Colin, the phone in her hand made a "peep" sound.

She looked down at her phone, and a text popped up on the screen which said, "Does Colin try to kill Hugh?"
