My Ex-husband Begs Me Back
Chapter 1490: Ignoring

Chapter 1490: Ignoring

As Kian was lost in his thoughts, Kerry personally called Daisy.

Since hearing Ayan's words, he hadn't proactively called Daisy in a long time.

Now, he called Daisy out of the blue, naturally surprising her. But she quickly answered, almost subconsciously worried that Kerry might hang up.

After the call connected, Kerry didn't speak immediately. Daisy beat him to it, saying, "Kerry? You looking for me?"

"Miss Daisy in the room? I have something to discuss with you," Kerry said in a business-like tone.

Daisy's initial hope instantly dimmed, her tone turning cold. "Just work-related?"

Kerry was well aware of Daisy's noticeable change towards him. But it seemed not enough, as Ayan had told him the timing wasn't right yet.

He didn't understand what timing meant, only knowing that it wasn't the right time yet.

Keeping calm and composed, Kerry said, "Yes, work-related matters. But also, I have a personal matter to discuss with Miss Daisy."

A personal matter meant it wasn't purely work-related.

After a brief silence, Daisy agreed, "Come over, I'm in the room."

Daisy hung up the phone, her expression mellowing. She instructed her secretary and bodyguard in the room, "You two go rest. Kerry is coming soon." Both of them understood Daisy's unspoken message, nodded, and left the room.

As they left, Kerry arrived.

She welcomed Kerry into the room, and the two sat on the couch. She looked at Kerry and asked, "What do you want to drink?"

It was the first time she had asked so proactively.

Kerry's emotions were tumultuous, but he kept a calm façade, pretending nothing had happened.

Seeing his lack of reaction, Daisy couldn't help but look displeased.

Kerry said, "Just plain water."

Daisy's expression weakened, not saying much, just giving him a glass of water.

Kerry sat in silence on the couch. Seeing his silence, Daisy grew impatient and asked, "Kerry, what did you come to me for?"

It would be better to say something, anything, than sit in silence.

Kerry finally raised his gaze to Daisy, their eyes meeting. His gaze, once filled with admiration, was now merely neutral. He said, "Miss Daisy, I want to talk to you about the Simpson Group collaboration project Mr. Tillery is preparing to start next month, so we need to get ready to leave. Is there anything else you need to do? Please finish it before we leave!"

"My father's decision?"

"Yes."

Daisy's face turned serious. "You guys go back first. I'm not ready to leave yet."

"If Miss Daisy wants to stay for Ayan," Kerry's expression grew colder, "Mr. Tillery won't agree. I advise you to drop that idea because if you haven't met the requirements before the deadline, the collaboration is over."

Daisy fell silent upon hearing Kerry's words. Despite her dissatisfaction in her eyes, she couldn't say anything. She had agreed with Mr. Tillery-if she didn't meet the deadline, she had to go back. Daisy was reluctant.

Looking at Kerry, she said, "Don't we still have time left? I have a chance before the deadline."

"Ayan is colder than we expected. Are you sure you want to continue?" Kerry asked.

"I believe he has feelings for me. My background and personal abilities surpass Camille's. Given time, he'll see who's better." Daisy snorted, adding, "Besides, I have an ace up my sleeve. With this ace, I can definitely win him over."

Kerry's eyes flickered, his expression becoming serious. He asked, "An ace?"

"Yes." Daisy seemed unwilling to say more, only looking at Kerry. "Are you sure you want to distance yourself from me? Weren't we close before? Are you falling in love now? Is that why you're pulling away from me?"

Daisy had asked this question before, but Kerry never gave her a direct answer.

At this moment, Daisy couldn't contain her frustration, as she was not used to Kerry's change.

After her question, she stared directly at Kerry, her eyes demanding an answer.

Kerry remained cold, worsening Daisy's impatience.

She approached him, saying, "Can't we talk about this? We've known each other for years. We've always been good. Why have you changed since coming to Hance City? Kerry, I really don't like this. I don't like how you're treating me."

Daisy couldn't control her emotions, and neither could she control her changing demeanor. Rising from the couch, she walked up to Kerry, looking at his indifferent face. Her emotions escalated further, beyond her control.

After Daisy spoke, the room fell quiet. Then, Kerry looked up at her, asking, "Miss Daisy, are you uncomfortable with my change, or is it our changing relationship?"

Daisy was taken aback. Wasn't it the same thing?

Kerry smiled faintly. "Daisy, I believe you're aware of my feelings for you. You've always known, pretending not to. You expected me to stand by you even if you rejected me, right?"

Kerry exposed their relationship, leaving Daisy frozen.

She didn't expect Kerry to know everything but stay silent.

Their eyes still locked, Kerry continued, "But you overlooked one point: you can't have both. If you choose someone else, you must reject me. We were never a possibility. I will find a girl I like, get married, have children, and that's our predetermined outcome."

With that said, Kerry stood up.

Despite the short distance between them, he showed no intention of staying. Ready to leave, Daisy reached out from behind and embraced him. Everything after that would fall into place.

As they hugged, Kerry's mouth curved, out of Daisy's sight. Those words he just spoke were Ayan's advice an hour ago, before he came to see Daisy.

Retreating to advance was a strategy he rarely used but found effective.

Would their relationship change after this night?
