Chapter 1486 Confrontation

The assistant said cautiously, "I'm not really sure. Miss Daisy is right here with me, Madam. What should we do?"

Before the assistant could finish, Daisy's voice came from the other end of the phone. "Miss Armstrong, this is Daisy," she said.

Camille's reaction was minimal, but her expression dimmed at Daisy's words. She squinted and replied in a cool tone, "Do you have business with me, Miss Daisy?"

"Miss Armstrong, can we meet? I've been in Hance City for a while now, and we still haven't had a proper meal. Let's have lunch together," Daisy proposed.

Daisy's words always conveyed a strong sense of assertiveness, reflecting her personality.

But Camille, although seeming soft on the surface, was actually quite tough in her core. She remained composed and unemotional as she asked, "Do we have a need for a meal? We aren't friends, nor do we have a business relationship. So why have a meal together?"

Camille's thoughts were rational. She had no connection to Daisy, not even through Ayan. They were merely business partners in the Simpson Group. If she had to entertain all partners, she'd be overwhelmed. However, Daisy didn't see it that way. She wanted to provoke Camille, to show her the imbalance of power between them and assert that she was the one best suited for Ayan.

Camille's response was calm and indifferent. "Miss Daisy, if you wish to have a meal with me, what is the basis? Are we friends? I don't think either of us wants that. Business partners? My company has no dealings with you, so that leaves only one option. As Mrs. Simpson of the Simpson Group, I can accompany you to a meal, albeit reluctantly."

Everything was in English between Camille and Daisy.

Camille's tone was light and indifferent, yet her words held weight.

Daisy wanted to provoke her, but Camille smoothly made her acknowledge her identity as Mrs. Simpson. Daisy's silence followed.

The assistant observed Daisy's expression change, frozen like a statue, as Camille's words sank in. The assistant quickly diverted her gaze, and Daisy's slow response followed, "Miss Armstrong, are you suggesting to have a meal with me as Mrs. Simpson? But as far as I know, you and Ayan are divorced. Even after divorce, do you still want to call yourself his wife?"

There was a hint of mockery in Daisy's tone, insinuating that Camille was clinging to the title of Mrs. Simpson despite the divorce.

Camille perceived the meaning in Daisy's words but chose not to argue. Instead, she continued, "Miss Daisy is right. We are indeed divorced, but..."

"But what?"

"I believe if I agree to remarry now, he would drop everything and take me to the civil affairs bureau the next second. You don't understand him. When he makes a decision, no one can change it. Even in unexpected situations, he takes control without hesitation."

Camille redirected the conversation and then said, "I apologize, Miss Daisy, but we are not friends. If you are unable to find someone to have a meal with, Simpson Group can arrange a public relations manager to accompany you. Would that be acceptable?"

Daisy fell silent after Camille's response.

Camille didn't wait for her to speak again and ended the call.

Later, the assistant described how Daisy was visibly upset after the call.

Daisy's attempt to assert her superiority had backfired.

Daisy was so enraged that she almost threw the assistant's phone. However, the assistant managed to inform Daisy that the phone was hers. Daisy then threw the phone into the assistant's arms and left the room, her anger evident by the sound of things being smashed heard from the open door.

Camille remained unfazed, believing Daisy had brought this upon herself by provoking her.

The meal was no longer a possibility, and after being briefed on the aftermath by the assistant, Camille told Kian about the situation.

Kian, hearing all of this, promptly informed Ayan.

It was not a minor issue; Daisy had crossed Ayan's boundaries.

Having been by Ayan's side for a long time, Kian understood Camille's position in Ayan's heart. Daisy's actions were a grave mistake. After relaying all the information, Kian cautiously suggested to Ayan, "Mr. Simpson, should I go to the hotel and remind Daisy?"

Ayan, with a cold glare, responded in a detached manner, "No need."

Kian was uncertain if Ayan was letting it go.

But Ayan followed up with, "Contact Kerry. If he's unsure about Daisy, our partnership is over. If he's confident, then let Daisy be more restrained." Ayan's words were chilling, and the office was filled with an aura of frost.

Kian fell silent and he could feel the chill in the big office.
