Caliana POV

"I'm worried, daddy, what if she dies?" Love cried, tightly holding my hand. I wanted to tell her that I'm alright and not to cry but I couldn't open my eyes or move my lips.

My mind was fully awake however and all I could think about is how to get my revenge on Candace and June for this. I shall make them pay, I will humiliate them my way. Tingles erupted on my arm and I immediately knew it was Alpha Edward touching me, I wanted to revolt against him but I didn't have any strength to do so and besides, his touch felt right.

I kept drifting in and out of consciousness until my eyes fluttered opened and adjusted to the room I was in, a hospital room, and my arms were connected to an IV tube. I sighed and my gaze lazily scanned the room

"1 think she's disoriented,” I recognized Marcus’ voice... My hand flew to my head and I grunted in pain. I was fully awake and I saw him, the alpha. The alpha's obnoxious gaze was on me with intensity. He was angry.

" Who did this to you?" He demanded, I ignored him and he took strides towards me. He inhaled and looked at me with gentleness

"What happened, Garret found you at the border, beaten and passed out,” He says gently.

"1 can't remember," I said. Candace was right, he wouldn't take my side against her so I will have to deal with this myself.

" Speak the truth,” He growls.

"1 didn't see anyone. I was hit in the head and passed out,” I lied

"You have defensive wounds on you, those claw marks and you have a busted lip," Marcus said, I sense concern in his voice which caught me off, guard.

" You fought your attacker, really well actually if you're still breathing,”

I closed my eyes for a moment.

" Well, maybe they did this after they knocked me out," I shrug my shoulder and the pain made me wince.

" And we are supposed to believe that?" Alpha Edward said. He was getting frustrated.

"I'm your alpha and I demand you tell me," He roared and I looked him in his eyes

" And I'm the Luna, I'm telling you what I know," I retorted back. He tilted his head in surprise and Marcus smirked.

Marcus’ eyes glazed over and he left the room, patting his brother's shoulder.

" Look, Meyers, tell me the truth. Who hurt you?"

" Will you kill them?" I asked, mirroring his expression.

" Do you want them dead?" He asked.

" You wouldn't do that,"

"1 can't if you don't mention names,”

" Forget it, Alpha,"

He was in front of me in flash, he grabbed my cheeks with his fingers and cocked my head up so I'm looking directly into his gaze.

"You are so stubborn and annoying,” He snarled. I didn't retort. He was slowly leaning into my lips, his eyes were on them and he swallowed however, he stopped and went out of the room as though it caught fire. I was left with a burning pain in my heart knowing that he will never choose me over anyone.

The door opened an hour later and Love entered the room.with her Dad.

" Caliana,"” The little girl had tears in her lovely eyes. Alpha Edward helped her onto the bed and I hugged her tightly.

"1 was so worried about you. You had bruises when I saw you,"

"I'm fine, I just tripped,” I lied to her.

As Love and I conversed, Alpha Edward watched us in interest, our eyes met but I looked away, not hiding my dismay for him. He left the room without saying a word.

The room I was in was large with a tv so we decided to watch cartoons. Love wrapped her arms around my waist and put her head on my stomach. I kissed her and she sighed in contentment. A few hours later, she was softly snoring and I didn't move my position so that I shouldn't wake her. As I watched the little girl sleep, I was reminded of myself. I lost my mother at a young age too and I've tried so much to remember what she looked like but as I grew older, the memory fades. My father gushed about how much I resembled her, he said I didn't only get her face but her kind heart as well and that made him love me more.

I wondered if Love knows her mother, no one talks about it at the manor. I'll have to ask. Was Alpha Edward and Love's mom close? Were they mates? How did she die?

I was stroking her hair softly when the door opened and the alpha walked in with boxes of pizza in his hands, his eyes fall on me and then the little girl.

"1 brought this for you," He said, putting the boxes on my bedside table. I Carefully placed Love on the other side and woke her, she mentioned being hungry.

" She won't wake, she's a heavy slumberer,” He said but I ignored him and woke her anywhere. We couldn't let her go to bed hungry.

The girl stirred and slowly her eyes flutter open, she smiled at me apologetically.

"I'm sorry I fell asleep,” She said groggily.

"It's alright, baby, I woke you up to eat,” She frowned and looked at the pizzas. Her eyes were completely awake and she grinned

Alpha Edward served us and I was surprised he sat on the couch and ate too. Love is telling me about the dream she had and I listened, even pitching in.

" That's why, we should go camping, just you, me, and daddy!" She said and I almost choke on my pizza. I'm not going anywhere with Alpha Edward.

"I'm working but Marcus and Marcos can go with you, lovely girl," He said, it was even worse going with those two.

" You're always working daddy," Love frowned. Alpha Edward didn't know what to say to his daughter,

" But we recently went camping,”

" That was a week after my birthday and it was 6 months ago, we didn't even stay the whole weekend, you had a work emergency,” She said, coldly. I raised an eyebrow and color drained from the alpha's face.

" Hey. Should we put Coco next?" I asked, trying to deflect the daddy-daughter problem and I succeeded, Love was happy to watch her favorite cartoon and Alpha Edward looked at me appreciatively. Just like the last one, Love slept halfway through the movie. Alpha Edward got up and carried her in his arms, her face was in the crook of his neck.

"You'll be discharged tomorrow, I'll send someone to get you,"

"1 know my way around,” I said, calmly.

"I can't risk another unconscious attack in my pack,” He simply said, putting emphasis on the word unconscious. I kept quiet and laid on my back, I closed my eyes and only opened them when the door shut. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom, I looked in the mirror and grimaced at my reflection. My hair was cluttered and I still had some marks on my body however, all the cuts were gone. I washed my face and went back, it was drizzling outside so I stood against the tall window, watching the beautiful pack, the lights illuminated and the buildings looked even taller when I'm in there.

Flashes of stormy green eyes came to my mind and a scent of faint vanilla hit my nostrils, I could swear there was someone on the door but when I opened it, I didn't find anyone, only one sunflower on the ground, I crouched to pick it up and looked around the hallway but it was quiet. I smiled and brought the lovely flower to my nose.
