Chapter 14: Age Twelve

"How is my little girl doing?"

"Doing good, sir. The tutor introduced me to Latin today.”

"Did you like it?"

"It was very difficult. Why do I need learn Latin, sir?" Lyra looks up the man who frequently visits her ever since that dinner when she was ten.

"We can skip that part little one since I know how well you do on your other subjects. "His warm big hand gently pats her head. He looks down at her with a smile on his chapped lips. As always, she sits in his lap which seems to make him smile even more. “Is everyone treating you well?" "Yes. Thank you for always helping me, sir.”

"Enough with the formalities just call me Elmir." he leans down kissing her head softly. "I will always help you."

Happy to finally have someone who cares she leans in close and hugs him tightly. His hugs are always warm and makes her feel safe. He was both her parents in one person. They stopped with the physical abuse and chain her in the basement but their words still hurt like a whip.

"I like your hugs.”

"Good to hear because I like your hugs too.” he answers holding her tighter.

"When will you be back next time?"

"Work is busy now so I won't be back for another three months. Be a good girl until then?"

"I will Elmir."she promises with a big smile wanting him to be proud of her.

"That's my girl. Now give me a kiss and a big hug before I leave”

She kisses his cheek and gives him a tight squeeze when hugging not really wanting him to leave. He plants a kiss on the cheek and stands up, placing her on the floor and waves goodbye ready to leave.

"Hello Mr Neserov, mom and dad are waiting for you in the office.” Jenny informs the moment she walks in.

"Jenny." Elmir greets curtly. Winking at Lyra with a secretive smile he walks out leaving her alone with Jenny. The last person she wishes to be alone with but knew she wouldn't dare do anything with him in the house.

"So, how is my little sister doing?"

"Good."

"Of course you are." she mutters and closes the door.

Hearing alarm bells go off in her head she tries to walk past Jenny and out the door but is harshly grabbed by the arm. "Listen to me you little whore, just because you're sleeping with him doesn't mean your worth anything. The moment he's done with you I'll be the first to laugh.”

"I'm not sleeping with him."

"Mom says he's paying to be with you and whores gets paid to be with men.” she

taunts venomously. Lyra stops struggling and looks into Jenny's cerulean blue eyes with the same cold, hateful, stare as the rest of the family. She knows her so called sister takes every opportunity to be mean and say things to hurt. This one hit home with a loud bang. Yanking her whole arm harshly Jenny loses her grip from the sudden movement and Lyra is free. Quickly she rushes out and towards the office where she knows Elmir and her parents are. Without knocking she steps inside. Tears in her eyes.

"Come here." EImir coos opening his arms. "Why are you crying?"

"Jenny called me a whore and said I was sleeping with you, that whores also got paid to be with men and you pay to be with me and when done with me shell be the first to laugh.” Words kept on rushing out like a volcano and she hated herself for not being able to control herself.

"Why does Jenny run her mouth about things she doesn't understand?” Elmirs voice hard with a certain edge to it as he addresses her parents.

"Go get Jenny honey." Mike politely demands. Tiana immediately walks out and comes back shortly after with a confused Jenny in tow.

"So, you like to run your mouth.” EImir questions staring straight at Jenny.

Without any further words Elmir raises to his full height and gently puts Lyra in his seat before turning and slapping Jenny hard across the cheek. He roughly grabs her by the hair holding firmly before hitting her in the stomach with a closed fist. Letting go Lyra watch Jenny fall to the floor gasping for air.
