Avery’s pov
I have never seen Melissa look this angry before. Her eyes were red, the veins on her forehead popping out, the look in her eyes. She looked terrifying.
“Don’t you f*cking dare!” her voice was now a higher pitch, almost like a banshee that caused my ears to ring. My heart pounded in my chest. each beat feeling more furious as the seconds tick on by
Swallowed. I knew why she was livid. I am not st*pid to think that she had not heard the rumors spreading around the campus like wildfire. It would obviously get to her. Her face twisted in a way I would describe as a mixture of a sneer and disgust as she scoffed.
“Little miss innocent and perfect.” her voice took on a pitch of a taunt as she walked back to my side of the room that had already been a mess. She grabbed my snow globe, the one Xade had given me for Christmas years ago and my heart dropped in the pit of my stomach.

“Melissa please don-
Shut up!” she screeched, her fingers wrapped tightly around the delicate glass of the snow globe and my heart thrummed painfully.” Come any closer and I will destroy this piece of shit!”
I swallowed, my eyes on the snow globe that meant so much to me.

“Xade!” I squealed as I ducked behind my makeshift snow wall. Xade was aiming to hit my face with a snowball.
I can hear his cheery laughter, loud and happy. “Why are you hiding V? It’s just a little snow.” he teased and as I peeked behind the wall I saw him making the ball to throw at me. I narrowed my eyes, trying to figure out a way to win this little snow fight..
Lost in my thoughts, I noticed last second that he had spotted my face peeking behind the wall and with a smirk, he aimed and shot. I squealed when the cold snow hit my face and fell back on the ice. In a second Xade is hovering above me, laughing.

“Kids, come inside for some hot cocoa!” Mom yelled in the distance, her figure peeking between the opened back door. Xade looked back. I guess we better get inside now.”
I nodded and we raced to head to my house.” Wait.” Xade gripped my arm before I could walk to the foyer. I turned around, a little confused. He beamed. “Wait here, I want to give you the gift I bought.”
My brows furrowed. “But we aren’t opening gifts yet until everyone gets here.”
Xade just smiled. “This gift isn’t for everyone to see, it’s for you alone.” Then he left, quickly running to the living room area to get the gift. He returned seconds after, his face already flushed as he approached me shyly.
His arms are behind his back, hiding the present. I beamed, butterflies fluttering in my stomach wildly. “Here,” he says softly, revealing his hand grasping a present wrapped terribly with gift paper. I giggled, throwing my hand over my mouth.
Xade sighed, rolling his eyes. “I tried,” he said sheepishly, handing me the poorly wrapped gift that I took happily, my entire body flushing with warmth. I carefully peel the wrap back and gasped when I saw what it was.

My fingers wrap around the glass surface as I pull it out, staring at it in awe. A snow globe. ” Xade,” I breathed out, stunned by how pretty it was. There’s a beautiful little house inside with a figure of a woman and man holding hands. It was beautiful.

My brows furrowed. ” Future home?
He grinned, flicked my forehead and ran while shouting over his shoulder. “Come on before the hot cocoa gets cold.”

Back then I was way too young to figure out what he meant, but now I had realized he had been giving me little hints that he liked me all along.
“Melissa,” I said softly, eyeing the snow globe. I didn’t want to lose that special memory. Her eyes tore up, her lower lip wobbling.” You knew I was in love with him. You knew!” She lifts her hand up, the

I swallowed, my tongue feeling suddenly heavy. Melissa took a step forward, dangling the snow globe above her head. “Say what you and Xade had was a mistake.”

She threatened to throw the snow globe, her eyes filled with rage. Say it! Say it Avery!”
It was a mistake okay!” I yelled, tears flowing down my eyes. ” What we had done was a mistake!”
