Chapter 30 

“What do you mean, Mr. Mint?” 

Leo smiled and said, “It’s okay. I won’t blame you if you can’t help but reveal the secret.” 

As he spoke, Leo patted the guy on the shoulders and left. 

The other assistant stood there, confused.

Giselle walked into the office. Her colleagues deliberately avoided her. 

They still felt awkward after what happened the other night. 

Giselle didn’t mind any of that. She asked the designers in the design department to create something based on the materials provided, urged the post–production personnel to post the videos edited for this week, and took back the signed contract from the business department. 

When she was on her way back to the office after finishing all those things, Giselle ran into Jenny 

Jenny was still harping on what had happened on Friday night. She mocked Giselle, “I see you are still wearing that fake ring. Don’t you think it’s time to take that off? It’s embarrassing to wear a fake ring.” 

Giselle didn’t care about her ridicule. She smiled and retorted, “Well, thank you for noticing it again. You must like me a lot to notice everything I do. I think you seduced Mickey because of me.” 

Jenny snapped angrily, “That’s bullshit! I don’t like you at all!” 

“If you say so.” 

Jenny was pissed, but Giselle ignored her. She just returned to her desk. 

Giselle was busy. She didn’t have time for Jenny. 

Unlike Jenny, who came from a wealthy family, Giselle had to work hard to earn respect. 

She busted her ass to earn everything she had, and she must work harder if she wanted to live in this city in the future. 

Giselle knew she didn’t have a lot of advantages over others. All she could do was learn from people and outwork them. She was never a quitter. 

Jenny felt frustrated when she saw Giselle ignore her. She wanted to find more excuses and push Giselle out of the company. 

However, she had other things to do. Jenny needed to have an exclusive interview with an Internet celebrity, and it was about time. She had to follow that up and make sure it went well. 

Therefore, Jenny had no choice but to do her job. But she secretly promised to give Giselle a hard time some other day! 

At noon, Giselle received a phone call from Hymes‘ colleague. 

He would bring lunch Hymes made for Giselle to her workplace. 

Giselle was a bit embarrassed when she went out to take it. She told the man, “I’m sorry you had to come over again. Hymes shouldn’t have… 

“It’s okay.” The young man nodded calmly. He turned around to leave after giving Giselle the lunch box. 

Giselle stopped him. “Hm… Is Hymes often busy?”

“It depends. Sometimes he’s busy.” 

“Does he always use his lunch break to make lunch for me?” 

“Yes.” 

Giselle skipped a heartbeat and said, “I see. Thank you again. Bye.” 

After Leo left, Giselle took the lunch box to the rest area. She was touched by how considerate Hymes was but also felt a bit guilty 

Hymes had to work all day and cook lunch for her. What could she do for him? 

Giselle knew Hymes had put a lot of effort into maintaining their relationship. 

She sighed and decided to change herself and be more considerate toward Hymes. It wasn’t fair to him if he was the only one to give. 

Several colleagues from other departments were in the rest area too. They asked Giselle, 

“What are you having for lunch, Giselle?” 

“Wow! Look at those dishes! Did your husband make them for you?” 

Giselle looked at the food in her lunch box. They did look great. She nodded, “Yes. My husband cooked them for me.” 

They don’t look like leftovers from yesterday. When did your husband cook them for you?” 

Giselle replied. “Just now.” 

“Really? It costs a lot of time to make a lunch like that. How could he manage that?” 

Just as Giselle was about to answer, Jenny said mockingly at the rest area door, “Well, that’s understandable. His business is low, and he had nothing else to do but cook for Giselle.” 

“Giselle may have to work hard to support both of them in the future.” 

Giselle looked at Jenny and said, “It’s none of your business.” 

“Of course not. If you want to support a man, be my guest. I just feel sorry for you.” 

Jenny sneered, “But I do understand how you feel.” 

“Why don’t you just leave me alone and have lunch with your boyfriend?” 

“Well, we are going to have lunch at the restaurant downstairs after we finish our work.” 

“Is that so?” Giselle pretended to smile, “You should hurry then.” 

Jenny didn’t expect Giselle to be so calm about her satire. She continued, “These dishes may look good, but who knows how terrible they taste!” 

Giselle put down her forks, turned around, and said sternly, “Why are you doing this, Jenny?” 

Seeing Giselle was mad, Jenny pretended to be scared and said, “I’m not doing anything. I just think those dishes may not taste good. That’s all.” 

“Well, you’ll never know it since you can’t taste them.” 

“I’m not asking for a bite!”

Giselle sneered, “Why are you still harping on this if you are not asking for a bite? I thought you wanted me to give you 

some.” 

“Giselle, I don’t care about those dishes. Your husband cooked lunch for you, so what? He is so cheap that he can’t afford to have you eat at restaurants every day. That’s why he cooked for you, and you think he’s a great guy!” 

Jenny grew furious. 

“Yeah, so? You must care about me a lot to remind me of that.” 

Jenny couldn’t win Giselle in the argument. She just said, ‘Never mind. You’ll regret everything you’ve done!” 

As she spoke. Jenny was about to leave and have lunch with Mickey. 

Suddenly, Mr. Baker, the director of the brokerage department, came to the rest area for coffee. Seeing people around Giselle talking, he casually asked, “What’s going on?” 

“Nothing. Mr. Baker. They are just curious about my lunch.” 

“Well, your lunch does look great. Who made it for you?” 

“My husband. 

Mr. Baker grew curious. The one you recently married?” 

“Yes.” 

“That’s nice. Don’t forget to invite us when you have the wedding ceremony.” 

Mr. Baker was a sophisticated man. Giselle knew she couldn’t take his words seriously. But he was her boss; she should at least respect him. 

Giselle nodded, “Of course.” 

Mr. Baker remained silent when he poured himself coffee. He didn’t want to say much in front of Jenny. 

Suddenly, he noticed Giselle’s lunch box. His eyes widened, “Your lunchbox…
