I open my eyes and close them right away. The light is so bright that it is hurting my eyes. Too bright to be my bedroom. I focus on the sounds and I hear voices in the background. There’s a beeping noise, someone shifting in a seat. The bed is a hard mattress with a comforter which is very soft and warm.

By the second try, I get a good look at the ceiling. Seeing the white walls reminds me of a hospital. Turning my head to the right I see a heart monitor and there is an intravenous drip attached to my arm. I feel rested but still tired, if that makes sense. I don’t try to remember what happened to me. Of course, I see the bandage on my arm, but for now, I want to hold on to the peace and quiet.

The person in my room doesn’t speak to me and lets me wake up slowly. After five minutes, I try to glance at them. They are sitting right next to my head, so I can’t see their faces. I can only see masculine legs, which look bigger than Oliver’s.

I turn so I am lying on my side, and that’s when I see his sleeping face, the memories coming back to me.

I groan, the images flashing through my mind. “Igétas,” I say. That’s his name.

The moment I speak he is completely awake, pushing the chair forward so I can see his face and he can see me more clearly.

“You’re awake,” his face is written with what I think is concern.

“Am I?” the words are leaving my lips with a hoarse and low voice.

He nods his head and reaches for my hand to hold. I avoid his touch and he looks hurt.

“So, now what?” I ask, wetting my lips. I am thirsty.

He takes a bottle of water and a straw and holds it in front of me. I stare at it, suspicious, and I take a few sips.

The room is fit for one bed and has the ugliest paintings on the wall. Brown flowers, how depressing.

“You need your rest,” he sets the bottle down.

“Where are Oliver and Maya?” I ask, he growls when I mention Oliver’s name.

“I am here,” he says, taking my hand so quickly in his that I can’t dodge it.

I look at our hands together. His words and touch give me a satisfying feeling I can’t place. A sense of belonging I haven’t felt since I was a teenager.

He’s staring at me tenderly, and I recall him saying I was his mate. God, why am I in this situation? I was a good girl, well, as good as I could be with my sassy attitude.

“Yes, you’re here,” I say calmly. I think that he has that effect on me, “But I’d like to speak with them. Can you call them please?” I ask, and he just presses a button on a remote.

Maya comes in and gives me a quick smile. Standing by my bedside and doing some checks while saying: “Igétas, it doesn’t appear you called me the moment she woke up. You promised.” She glares at him. His eyes are on me and he doesn’t respond.

“How are you feeling?”

“Better, can I go home now?”

“You are home,” Igétas answers before Maya does.

I just ignore the stranger who has claimed me as his. Maya does the same.

“I want to keep an eye on you, Violet. Don’t overreact, but you slept for two days. It’s Monday.”

I look outside and see the sun setting. “What did you give me? The shot in my arm, what was it?”

Maya stops the poking and looks me in the eye. “I didn’t give you much, I swear, but with the adrenaline wearing off, the panic attack, the rogue attack and the attack of...” she is cut off by Igétas.

“-And meeting me, it was a lot to take in on one day.” He lays his hand on my thigh and it doesn’t feel uncomfortable to me. Probably a mate thing.

“I think your body needed to rest and your mind needed to adjust and shut down. That’s why I want to keep an eye on you. I don’t know how you are going to handle the changes.”

“I want to leave,” I firmly tell the two wolves in the room.

Igétas stands up and hovers over me. “You belong to me,” he growls and immediately switches to a softer voice after seeing my face overflowing with fear. It is strange to feel some weird power rolling off of him. “You are special to me, please don’t leave.”

I don’t know how to react. I don’t know him. And I don’t need to explain myself to him.

I turn my head to Maya. “He’s learning,” I say and she giggles.

“Yes, he is. He also didn’t leave your side for two days.”

“Really?” I turn back to Igétas, “Did you pee with me in the room?” I ask, nodding towards the sink.

“I did leave the room to shower and go to the bathroom.” He looks confused.

Maya is now laughing. Igétas doesn’t know how to react. Goal achieved.

“Just try to hold on a little longer, okay? We will talk later about leaving.” Maya says, and I know what she means. They are going to persuade me to stay.

“Oliver is coming over in a few minutes. I will call Joe and Rose for you. Alpha permitted them to come. Rest a little and maybe talk to your mate.” She winks, walking out of my room and leaving me alone with him.

Well, let’s have a conversation.
