Chapter 1761

Sherry hid outside the door, gulping as she watched the girl munching on her food.

It was then she sensed a gaze on her.

She looked up and met John's gaze. The man was looking at her with a smile.

Embarrassed, Sherry quickly turned away and sat back on the couch. She picked up the tablet and played a cartoon on it, pretending that she was watching.

It was raining like cats and dogs outside, which formed a contrast to the quiet environment indoors. The smell of food from the tablet stimulated her saliva. She had lost count of how many times she gulped because of the temptation.

Then, Caprice’s chubby figure waddled towards her from the kitchen. She was holding two pieces of meatloaf in each hand, one bitten into and one still fresh.

She handed the fresh one to Sherry. “Mommy, Daddy made this for you. It's delicious!"

Sherry was surprised.

Caprice pushed the meatloaf closer to tempt her.

Since the girl had taken the effort to deliver it, she might as well accept it. Sherry took a bite. The juiciness and tenderness of the meat pleasured her taste buds

It took her two bites and a few munches to devour it whole.

Caprice, who had been munching on hers since a while ago, was stunned by how fast her mother gobbled down the meatloaf.

Sherry's eyes flickered. She patted the girl's head and said, “Thank you. It tastes really good.” Caprice curled her lips. “Daddy made it.”

Sherry cleared her throat awkwardly and stayed quiet.

The girl then waddled back to the kitchen and said to her father, “Daddy, Mommy says your meatloaf is delicious. Give her one more.”

Sherry was rendered speechless. She did not know whether to feel happy because the girl was caring or speechless because of the awkwardness. She was at a loss for action.

A while later, the girl came back with two more pieces of meatloaf. She gave Sherry two of them.” Mommy, here.”

Sherry pursed her lips. Since it was Caprice who delivered them, she accepted them.

The storm raged outdoors, but the environment indoors was comfortable and warm

Maybe due to his talent, John was an amazing cook. Caprice never stopped eating, and neither did Sherry. The dishes served on the table were all devoured.

The girl's stomach bloated after the meal.

Sherry was full as well but she would never let the man know. She carried Caprice to the window and stood there for a while.

The rain splashed on the window, adding a layer of blurriness to the wavering bushes and trees outside. The rumbling thunder in the sky created a gloomy mood.

Sherry thought the girl would be afraid of thunder, but the girl widened her eyes curiously and sized up the gloomy sky. She even pointed at the waving tree and grumbled, “Mommy, the wind is so strong. The tree is about to fall down.”

Sherry hummed a reply. It was indeed strong.

A clap of thunder sounded, startling the girl.

As the girl immediately hugged her mother, Sherry covered the girl's ears.

The thunder sounded like it was going to crack the earth in half.

Sherry then carried the girl into the room to bathe her and put her to bed.

John then came out from the kitchen and said softly, “You guys rest early. I'm going back.”

As soon as his words subsided, another clap of thunder sounded.

Caprice immediately covered her ears.

Sherry reluctantly said, “It's raining cats and dogs outside. You can stay here until the rain stops.”
