Outside the door was a young, buff man

Sherry already noticed him when she brought Caprice home last night. She knew the man was one of John's lackeys.

Sherry said, “Call your boss to come over.”

The bodyguard nodded and pulled out his phone.

Sherry returned to the living room and hugged Caprice with a heavy heart.

A while later, knocks came from the door. Sherry opened it and saw John in a casual white T-shirt and long pants, standing straight in front of her. His handsome face was coupled with his signature golden—framed glasses. He was smiling like a gentleman when Sherry opened the door.

Sherry instinctively reacted with a frosty look.

John said, “I'm here for Caprice.”

Sherry stepped aside without saying a word

When Caprice saw him, her eyes curved into two lines and she squealed happily, “Daddy!” She ran to the door with her little short legs.

John wanted to walk in but was greeted by Sherry's cold glare. His expression shifted and it made him stop.

Caprice ran over to him.

John carried the girl into his arms and then looked at Sherry. “Did Caprice sleep well last night?” Sherry ignored him. She said to Caprice, “Caprice, Mommy is busy later. I'll go find you when I'm done, okay?”

Lisa had texted her to urge her to be quick. She really had to leave for the meeting.

Caprice was slightly disappointed when she heard her mother was leaving, but she nodded obediently and said, “Okay.”

Sherry smiled at her. “Good girl.”

She switched to her frosty look and stared at John.

John pursed his lips. “You go ahead. I'll take Caprice out for a walk. If you want to see Caprice after you're done, just tell Nelson to contact me.”

Nelson was the young bodyguard who had stood guard outside her door for the whole night. Sherry continued to ignore him. She looked at Caprice and said her goodbyes. “Bye, Caprice.” Caprice pouted. “Bye, Mommy."

John had one last glance at Sherry before he left with Caprice.

Sherry watched Caprice leave her sight beyond the corner before she went back in.

John brought Caprice to the elevator.

Coincidentally, there were two men walking towards them, seemingly coming out from the elevator. They had a quick but subtle glance at John and Caprice.

John's gaze shifted. He replied with his frosty glance. The two men immediately averted their gazes when they met John's gaze.

Caprice pouted and then grumbled, “Daddy, why is Mommy not talking to you?”

John pursed his lips in silence.

The two men, who had not left the proximity, paused and listened to the girl carefully.

Then, the elevator door opened. John glanced at the two men before he brought Caprice into the elevator.
