Chapter 1664

The next two days were rather hectic with work.

Once again, it was Friday. It was the last week of the month.

It was a tradition for Sherry to take the employees of her department out for dinner at the end of the month to commemorate their hard work throughout the month.

This month was no exception either.

She had reserved a place for dinner in advance. Half an hour before the end of the working day, she instructed the employees of the three departments she oversaw to finish up their work and get ready to leave with her.

The place she had reserved for dinner was some distance from the Sager Tower, and it was a rather famous barbecue place located by the seaside.

She had reserved half of the second floor of the restaurant for the occasion.

In what seemed like a queer coincidence, she arrived at the restaurant to see a lot of familiar faces. Most of them were distant relatives of the Sagers, and some of them held positions in the corporation as well, albeit the lesser roles.

Two middle-aged men stood out. They were Aiden and Caden, and both the children of Anne and Ron. They had taken the family name of their mother instead of their father and were therefore honorary Sagers, even outsiders tend to refer to them as the Sagers.

This was the reason that despite being the only child of the family, Carl was not known as the sole Young Master Sager.

Both Aiden and Caden held leadership positions in the corporation and were considered rather ambitious men, but the extent of their capabilities was nothing compared to Carl.

Still, their insurance came in the form of having Ron and Anne look out for them.

Furthermore, their standing was secure largely thanks to their relationship with the other members of the Sagers household as nobody in the corporation would ever question their authority.

As soon as Sherry and her group bumped into them, someone behind her murmured, “How could we bump into them here of all places? Talk about bad luck.”

Aiden and Caden immediately noticed Sherry.

Something flashed across their faces at once, they immediately smiled at Sherry.

With that, their group began to approach Sherry.

Aiden greeted her with a smile, “President Sherry, what a coincidence, are you having dinner here today as well?”

Sherry replied with a half-smile, “Yes, are you two eating here as well?”

Aiden remarked curtly, “I was thinking that this restaurant isn't classy enough, but since President Sherry has chosen to dine here as well, I suppose there's no reason for us to not dine here too! The more people the merrier, right?”

Was this meant to be taken as a subtle jab at her choice of restaurant?

Sherry did not take to this kindly. “I suppose this restaurant isn't worthy of you two proud Master Sagers. Why don't you two eat at the place down the street instead? It's quieter and seems like a better fit for you two.”

There was indeed another barbecue place down the street but the only problem is that it was inferior in every way. It was in a less ideal location and its decoration was nowhere

near as extravagant.

It was sparsely decorated and even looked reminiscent of a ghost town since there were hardly any customers at the place. One would even have the impression that the place had closed down if not for the flimsy signboard outside.

Sherry’s sarcastic remark spurred some laughter from her employees.

Aiden and Caden were visibly upset by this, but they knew that there was nothing they could do to Sherry. As much as they hated to do so, they had to continue smiling and pretend as if they were not ruffled by Sherry’s pointed remarks.

That was when another shrill voice joined the conversation as someone emerged from behind Aiden and Caiden. “Sherry, these are my two brothers. They are the first and second eldest sons of the Sager family. Who do you think you are to disrespect them like this?!”

Ada came charging to the front and confronted Sherry with a vicious glare.

Sherry’'s employees quickly zipped their lips. Ada was Ron's niece and the cousin of the two Sagers. They knew better than to get on her bad side especially considering her

reputation.

None of them dared to speak up for Sherry so Aiden and Caden grew cocky again when they realized their savior was here.

There was a lot of tension in the air.

Just when they thought Sherry was going to back away from this confrontation, she suddenly broke out laughing.

Ada did not take to this well and roared. “What are you laughing about?!"

Aiden and Caden were visibly confused by this as well.

Everyone stared at Sherry and waited for a reply.

Sherry caught her breath and said audaciously, “It's funny that you think you two are superior to me when I'm the head of the marketing department in the corporation. Also, I'm Carl's fiancée and will be inheriting the corporation with him in the future. Let me ask you the same question, who do you think you are?”

Ada’s voice was caught in her throat. “They... they are the elders of the family!”

Sherry scoffed arrogantly. “So what? What are they going to do to me?”

Ada was at a loss for words.
