Madam Stockton did not finish the sentence.

When she found out that Sherry had used Mason to break up with John, she was shocked too. Despite her admiration for Sherry for her ruthless methods, she was heavily prejudiced against her back then and her admiration was buried.

The living room plunged into silence again.

John's face turned pale, his eyes bloodshot.

When Madam Stockton finally looked up at him and saw his terrifying gaze, she got frightened and staggered backward.

She teared up, and with a regrettable tone, she said, “John, it was my fault. I made you hate her and separated you two for so many years. I deeply regret it. If I knew what would turn out today, I would have persuaded your father to let you two be together.”

As John was petrified on the spot, his fists were tightly clenched.

He looked at his mother and saw the nervous and guilty look on her face. He said, “I got it.

Go out.”

“John, I really don't want to lie to you anymore. I don't want you to remember the bitter memories as well. That's why I decided to tell you. Just blame me if you want. I just hope you can bring Sherry back-"

“I said, GET OUT!" he shouted.

Frightened, Madam Stockton’s face turned pale and she trembled.

John looked at her with his reddened eyes. His fair and humble countenance was replaced by a grim and vicious expression as if he was a living demon

Madam Stockton dared not stay for a second longer. She quickly staggered to the door and left the living room. As soon as she stepped out of the house, a loud bang sounded behind her, causing her to squeal in shock.

John had kicked over the tea table out of anger.

The loud bang startled Queenie and Aunt Wanda, who were eavesdropping outside the house. Neither of them dared to look inside the living room.

The tea table toppled, shattering the cups and the teapot on the floor.

The man stood in front of the broken shards and stared blankly at the floor with his bloodshot eyes. The living room returned to silence but his mind remained tumultuous. His mother's words echoed in his mind ceaselessly.

The scenes from nine years ago, where Sherry wanted to break up with him, played again and again in his head. She had wanted to break up with him. He had asked why, and she had simply said she was bored of him.

Two days later, she had asked for a breakup again. She had said she did not want to live in a cheap apartment with him and lead a life of poverty.

To keep her by his side, he had gotten another laborious assignment the next day so that they could move into a better apartment soon.

Two more days later, when he came back on a rainy day, he had seen her and Mason in the same bed.

He had finally agreed to break up. He had left and stood in the rain for the whole night. The rain fueled his resentment for her and continued to torment him even up until this day.

Now, he learned that all that had happened was fake!

They were all fake!

He frowned. More and more flashbacks occurred in his mind.

The first time when she asked for a breakup, she had not even looked at him.

The second time when she asked for a breakup, she said she did not want to lead a life of poverty, but her eyes had been teary.

The third time was when he had caught her in bed with Mason. They were just sitting on the bed with the sheets over them. There had been no intimate body contact or signs of sexual intercourse. Her eyes had been teary as well.

As a matter of fact, she had not been bored of him or ever disliked him for being poor and had never cheated on him. She had never wanted to break up with him either.

She had only done it because his mother got to her and made her leave him so that his father would not torture him to death.

They were all part of an intricate plan to separate her from him!

She did not even mind being hated for the rest of her life!
