John pursed his lips. “I see.”

He then walked past her and went inside the house, leaving Sylvia alone and speechless. The man seemed to have made himself at home.

It was then that a black MPV came in from the corner and stopped in front of the house.

Sylvia turned around and saw Odell coming out of the car.

Odell went up to her and saw the wooden music box in her hands. “What's this?"

Sylvia smiled and said, “Caprice gave it to me.”

“She came back with John?”

“Yeah. They just came back.”

Odell glanced into the house. He then grabbed Sylvia away from the house, seemingly trying to draw distance from John.

Sylvia asked, “Got any updates from Glenchester?”

“Yeah. I had five men investigate from different approaches, and they all confirmed that Madam Stockton is awake. She even attended a family gathering last night. Many people saw her alive and healthy. Julie has been arrested, and her family, the Weisses, tried to plead on behalf of her in front of Madam Stockton, but Madam Stockton turned them down.”

Sylvia sighed a breath of relief. “It seems like John is telling the truth.”

John was not responsible for the fire. It was all Julie's plan.

“My sources confirmed his claims, so what are you going to do next? Tell Sherry about it?” Odell asked.

"Of course, I'l—"

Sylvia instantly noticed the trap Odell set up for her. She even saw the mischievous grin on his face and his shimmering eyes.

Sylvia's eyes flickered before she forcefully altered her words and said, “Of course, I'll tell her, but I have to figure out a way to reach her first.”

Odell chuckled. “Okay.” He chose not to expose her. He put his hand around her waist and walked her into the house.

John was standing by the window inside the living room, and when he saw them coming in together, he pursed his lips. He had a smile on his face, but it felt more like a jealous smile than a delightful one.

Later that night, the kids went to sleep without causing too much trouble.

John's room was quiet as well.

Odell and Sylvia's room went dark as soon as it was time for bed.

It was a quiet night, but it did not last long.

A while later, when the man beside Sylvia was truly asleep, she opened her eyes and reached out for her phone under the pillow.

She crawled out of the bed and headed to the balcony where she squatted down and tapped on the chat window with Sherry.

She texted Sherry about Madam Stockton’s condition, Julie's arrest, and the men who had set the house ablaze because of Julie's order.

After that, Sylvia added, “Sherry, John is suspecting that I saved you, and he’s here at my house with Caprice. Don't worry, I didn't tell him anything about you. Madam Stockton is doing well now. She even attended a family gathering last night.”

Sherry must be asleep at this hour.

After the text, Sylvia returned to the bedroom.

The man was still asleep in bed.

Sylvia snuck back into bed, but when she turned her back to him, the man’s long arms reached out to her and curled around her waist.
