Whitney was taken aback. She stared at Toby in disbelief for a moment before stammering, "I-I'm not taking care of her! I'm the host, after all... I must be a good host so that we don't embarrass our family!" "Alright, alright, alright!" He chuckled and played along with his wife. "You're the lady of our time, a princess from a prestigious family. So, you must be generous and not make things difficult for a lady like Maisie!"

Whitney rolled her eyes at him and giggled.

He embraced her, leading her to the couch, then moved behind her to massage her shoulders. "I know you're stubborn! You actually welcome her more than anyone else."

"Please!" She refused to admit it. "I don't like her. How does she deserve Daniel?"

"You old thing..."

"I know what happened to them back then!" Whitney turned to face Toby. "She only got together with him for money. She was pregnant, had a miscarriage, and clung onto him by pretending to have lost her mind!

"It always works on men when women make a fuss!" She scoffed. "That's why Daniel is completely bewitched! Am I right?"

Toby glanced at his wife helplessly, pursing his lips without commenting.

"Let's drop it and not talk about this!" He changed the subject, presenting the completed cursive work as if performing magic. "Here, rate this!" Whitney smiled, accepting it happily. She noticed that it was just finished. The work was beautiful, but it differed from his usual vigorous style.

She paused before saying, "This seems a little... contradictory to your usual style. Did you learn a new style?"

He smiled mysteriously. "What do you think?"

"Hmm... It's pretty great," she said earnestly. "Clean and elegant, yet strong. But I can tell it's not your usual style. You must have been nervous when you wrote it, right?" "Haha, you're sharp! Those are some amazing comments!" He laughed heartily. "But I didn't write this."

"What?"

"Maisie did!" He praised, "It's been a while since she started learning cursive. This is pretty good, considering that! I think she's quite talented..."

"I told you!" Whitney scoffed. Her expression changed instantly. "This isn't your style at all. You can tell how narrow-minded the person is in each stroke!"

"Hey, didn't you say it was pretty great?" Toby protested.

Whitney pouted, tossed the work aside, and looked away.

Toby spoke gently. "Honey, don't jump to conclusions just yet!"

She fell into momentary silence. "I-I just despise women who only live for men."

He understood her thoughts. Anya's death was a scar on her.

When the student mastered the knowledge, the teacher would lose their job. Yet, Whitney had taught everything she knew to Anya, leveraging all her connections for Anya's future.

She had done all that in hope Anya would flourish in the literary world.

Whitney had been furious when she learned Wilfred had gotten Anya pregnant out of wedlock, leading her to forgo studying at a prestigious school abroad. Whitney had even publicly announced cutting ties with her.
