Lycan's Affection
Three Moons

Eleanor sat on the edge of the bed, watching as yet another sunrise fell. The last time she saw Conaan was five days ago and his scent, ever dominant still lingered to remind her of exactly what she was missing. It hurt. And for once, she felt like she was starting to pay for all those years of loneliness.

No matter what she did to him, he would stay. Be patient, forgive. But this one time, she couldn't take out the rage she saw in his eyes, the way he spoke. She couldn't take out the feel of his hug. He wasn't angry, was not warm. It was...hurt.

'Are you trying to rein me in because you know how soft I am for you?'

Those words. She knew she had done it before. With Alexander. She had done it again. With Anderson. Different reasons, but the only one who had ended up wronged was Conaan. Still.

She swallowed, closing her eyes tight, her fingers nipping at each other. One more day and she would lose. One more day and she would walk the entire kingdom searching for him. Because she could not bear it. She could not stand the silence anymore.

A knock suddenly came on the door and she turned to it, her eyes wide, her heart beat accelerating. Somehow she knew it would not be Conaan, but somehow, she hoped it would be. To everything that lived.

Brandon slowly opened the door, his eyes calm. She gave a small sigh, her head low.

"I came to check on you. How are you feeling?"

She swallowed, then nodded, her heart slowing down a little too drastically as it succumbed to the sinking feeling of disappointment.

"Have you had dinner?" He asked again, his eyes scanning her.

Even Brandon had been pretty neutral with her. He only cheked on her, said nothing more. He never even said a word about Conaan to her like he deemed her unworthy of knowing.

"Where Is His Highness?" She finally said, her voice shaking.

Brandon gave a small sigh. "He is fine."

"You do know where he is, do you not?"

His eyes squinted, and he gave a small sigh again, his fingers pinching his nose a little. "Maybe you should let His Highness take his break. He is dealing and has dealt with more than you can imagine. I think he deserves five days away."

"But..." She started to say, but decided against it, tears running down her cheek now.

"And I can assure you he does not fault you for Beta Grayson's betrayal. He, infact, does not believe it. I know it would be convenient for Anderson to blame your father, as it would shift the blame to a dead man and probably lead Conaan to resenting you. Also, the only available ways of checking have all been checked. Conaan does not trust anyone from that generation to tell him the truth either."

Eleanor swallowed, tears now blurring her own vision of her feet. "Then why will he not come home?"

Brandon sighed. "I shall not speak for him. And Conaan has a strong sense of responsibility. He will come back to his throne sooner than both of us expect."

She swallowed hard, nodding. She could keep asking questions, keep hearing stuff as long as it helped her feel a little connected to him. Like he was still hee.

But Brandon had a tone of finality to his last words, and without another word, he closed the door, leaving her alone once again.

Her knees buckled and she fell to the floor in a puddle of the silk dress she was wearing, her eyes closing.

If she had know he would leave, she would have held on to his robe with the very last of her strength. Made him promise on her life that he would not leave, made him.....

"Attention!" Came the loud yell fromvthe announcer, and Eleanor turned to the window.

The golden orange rays had stretched across the sky, turning it a beautiful array of colors.

She held her breath, waiting for the announcement.

"It is time to rejoice! Just in time for the rare night of the comets, His Highness, owner of the thrones of the lycans, Sovereign ruler, Owner of the vast royal treasury, has single handedly conquered the werewolf pack of three moons!"

Eleanor's eyes widened, her breath faltering. Three moons. It was the sister pack to Polaris, and the Alpha, Alpha Micheal Cole was Alexander's first cousin. They also functioned as Polaris main weapon base, and even Polaris soldiers train in Three moons when there I no threat.

She stood up, realizing she cared less which pack it was and how closely affiliated to Alexander it was. She just needed...needed....the rest of the announcement. Needed to hear that he was back again here. He was back home, to her.

"The celebrations will continue forbone week in the grand square!"

She tightened her grip on the silk of her dress, waiting for the announcement. If he was back, it would be announced, right?

"Conaan..." she said, desperately hoping, praying. "Please."

"Conaan conquered three moons? Alone?" Alexander said, almost losing his balance as she fell off the rocking chair he had been on.

His new acting beta, Eric nodded, his hand clasping behind him.

"As usual, he spared every woman and child, but took the men. Three moons now belongs to the lycans. If we look at it statistically, our pack is the only one remaining on the side of the plains, and the rest all belong to the lycans. It will be possible for them to open up military bases next to us also."

"Damn that guy! What of Micheal? What happened to Micheal?"

Eric swallowed. "He was taken too. I heard, however, that he was alone. It almost felt like he just...decided to have fun or something. He subdued the entire pack within these four nights. Reports I got said they do not think he had a single injury."

Alexander swallowed, his fingers coming up to his hair, hos frustration evident in the way he clicked his tongue, his feet tapping on the floor.

"This is a warning. This is a warning! He is trying to get to me! We need to attack first."

"We can not. It will be suicide. He had no weapons in three moons, he never attacked from behind also. He is a beast."

Alexander fell back, his hand coming to his forehead, his eyes closing.

"I need to send a message to Anderson. I will be patient, of that is what it takes to conquer Conaan, but I will do it."

Eric's brows furrowed. "Anderson?"

Alexander nodded. "A beast has little beasts willing to betray him, amd that is where I come in. That old geezer Anderson thinks I will settle for Eleanor while his daughter married Conaan." He gave a small scoff, then stood, drawing out the pipe of hookah. "I want Conaan's head. And if Anderson stands in my way in order to try to secure the lycan's throne, I will kill him too."

Eric nodded. "Is Anderson one of Conaan's people?"

"He is Eleanor's uncle," he said simply, puffing out a long line of smoke. "Get ready to send a letter."

Eric nodded again, and with a respectful mod, walked out of the room.
