It didn’t take Midian long to do his final rounds, making sure all of the passengers were secured. When he reached Ronin’s area, the man started trying to bribe him – little did he know that he had no clout with these beings for many reasons, not the least of which was that he was flat broke, and they did not deal in human currency at any rate.

Midian informed him of such.

“You are worthless, your words are worthless, and you have nothing of value anymore, even by your standards. So, you see,” Midian stared into the depths of Ronin’s soul and knew everything he had done to achieve his monetary gain.

Ronin interrupted “What on Earth are you talking about you vile creature? I am the richest human being out of anyone on this ship!”

“I’m afraid not. Your Prime Minister sold you all into slavery for all of the wealth left underground, including yours, and he has been left behind to his freedom and money, neither of which will matter when that whole planet self-destructs. He will die for his treason and greed. You will be tortured for everything you have done to your own kind. It is a beautiful kind of karma, I believe that’s how your kind refers to it, is it not?”

It was a rhetorical question. Midian did not hang around to get Ronin’s answer, for he simply did not care, it wasn’t in his genetics for him to care. He ran on pure logic. Nothing more, nothing less.
