Violet POV 

Last night was like a tornado that passed over me, leaving me confused and anxious. It was 5 AM, and I was sitting on the beanbag in my living room, sipping coffee because I couldn’t sleep at all. I had tossed and turned in my bed thinking about Dane. 

Jayden had dropped me back home after the disastrous date with him. I was sure that he had lost a bone or two of his spine because of the offer that irresistible Dane had made. Throughout the journey, we were both sitting in uncomfortable silence. He knew that if he breached the subject of me taking up Emily, I would burst. But the fact was that none of us was addressing the elephant in the room. 

My mind was in havoc, so I texted Jayden that I won’t be coming to the office today. I was taking a day’s leave to calm myself and, more importantly, to spend my day with Dave since I had promised him I would go to Disneyland with him. 

Mimzy had never been to Disneyland and when I was making a promise to Dave, I could see hope in her eyes too. I went online and bought three tickets for us. 

I got up to make more coffee for myself, reminiscing about the last day‘ s events. Dane said that he had invited Jayden to his pre–wedding party. That meant that Dane wasn’t married as yet? My wolf stirred again inside as the information seeped into my mind. But the other side of the coin was that it was his pre–wedding party, which meant that he was soon going to marry Emily. So why was he after me? A shudder went down my b*dy when I realized the possibility that he was going to drag me home to be his mistress. “Never!” I exclaimed,

gripping my coffee cup tightly. And if he was going to marry Emily, wouldn’t she leave her modeling career? 

My thoughts went to what Jayden did last night. He tricked me into coming to Hotel Exotic, saying that he didn’t get a reservation at Ginger. However, when Dane interrupted our party, he mentioned we should go to Ginger. 

“Ughhhh!” I tipped my head up, trying to make sense of the situation. I just hoped that Jayden didn’t accept Dane’s offer or my life was going to be miserable. “You know what?” I said to myself with 

determination. “I am going to focus on my day with my son!” 

At 11 AM, I was standing in Disneyland with Dave on my hips and Mimzy holding the bag. I had my goggles on because Miami’s weather was balmy, but the sun was glaring at the citizens. 

“Mommy!” Dave called me, snapping me from my stupor. “I want to go. there.” He pointed at the car racing arena where adults and kids were both screaming and squealing when they hit each other’s cars. 

“Sure baby,” I said with a smile. “Mimzy, could you take him there? I will get some strawberry shake for us.” I gave a hundred dollars to her to buy tickets. She grinned as she took Dave with her and went to stand in the line of counters while I traipsed to the little stall selling milkshakes. My eyes went to the Ferris wheel as I paid the vendor and took the milkshakes. I had never been on one and that’s where I was going next. 

As I walked back looking at the Ferris wheel, I bumped into a very hard chest. “Sorry!” I said, balancing the milkshakes. My eyes went up, and I found myself looking into the emerald eyes of… Dane. “You?” Dread skittered down me like a thousand tiny spiders, their cold legs leaving a trail of unease. I glanced at Mimzy and Dave, who were both shouting with joy as their toy car crashed into someone’s. Oh God. Oh

God. I didn’t want to reveal my son to him. 

He gazed at me, cocking his head. “What were the chances we met in Disneyland out of all the places, Violet?” 

My heart thundered in my chest. I licked my l*ps as I stared at him. Was he stalking me? “Hi Dane! Where’s Emily?” I asked nonchalantly. 

He scratched his stubble and glanced around. “She isn’t with me. 

Goddess, he was looking so handsome with his dark goggles. He was towering above the rest of the people around us in his usual Alpha style. The white shirt on his broad chest fitted like a second skin. Its top buttons were open, giving me a glimpse of his dusty trail of chest hair that I suddenly imagined playing with.

“Nice seeing you!” I said and walked past him, not wanting to reveal my son’s existence. From the comer of my eyes, I saw a few girls fangirling over him. Jealousy hit me hard, but I suppressed it. What the hell was he doing here? 

But the Goddess had other plans. He followed me. “Who are those milkshakes for?” 

“My friends!” I said glibly and marched away, but Dane wouldn’t back off, so I stopped to face, him. “What do you want?” I hissed. “Please leave me. I will never go back to you. I will never be your mistress!” I wanted him to leave as fast as possible. The potential consequences of him discovering Dave was his son were beyond my imagination. My son was essential to my existence. My heart twisted thinking of that scenario. 

Ignoring my words, he narrowed his eyes at me. “Are you going to the Ferris wheel?”

“Yes!” I replied and marched there, leading him away from Dave, but I wasn’t ready for what happened next. 

“Cool! Even I was going there.” He took one milkshake from me and 

sipped it as he followed me to the Ferris wheel. I was going to do sipped it as he followed 

everything to keep him away from my Dave. When we reached there, he scanned the place. “Where are your friends?” 

I ignored him, bought a ticket and sat on the first gondola that stopped. in front of me. Furiously, I dug my phone out and messaged Mimzy that I was on the Ferris wheel and that she should wait for me. Just as I shoved my phone back in my back pocket, the seat beside me dipped. My eyes flared wide at the sight of Dane sitting right next to me. sight of Dane sitting right next to me. “What are you doing?” I whined, exasperated. 

Dane shrugged and sipped the shake. “Riding.”
