Chapter 24 

More guests arrived, so Melissa and the rest went to greet them. 

Just then, Seth walked toward Caroline, holding a glass of wine. 

He stood in front of her, scrutinizing her with his big, bright eyes. “Caroline, I haven’t seen you in years. It seems that you’ve been doing well.” 

Seth did not bring up the matter of that year at all. He figured that Caroline didn’t know that he was the one who started the fire. The only thing that went through his mind was how much prettier she had become, which was what drew him to her. 

“Hello, Mr. Gomez. I’m surprised that you came to talk to me in such a public setting. Aren’t you afraid my little sister will get jealous? Also, aren’t you afraid of the people’s gossip?” Caroline smiled coldly. 

She did not hide the contempt she had toward a greedy scumbag like Seth. It was a good thing that they broke up years ago. 

However, she would take back the Thompson Group shares that he cheated off her! 

“Yvonne is generous and understanding. She won’t get jealous.” 

“Is that so?” A sarcastic smile formed on Caroline’s lips. She saw a server coming over with a tray and took a glass. “Would you like one?” She asked. 

“Of course!” 

The two gently clinked glasses. Seth was in relatively high spirits. He gulped down his drink and kept his eyes glued on the 

Woman. 

Caroline maintained her composure but scoffed in her heart. “This scumbag, you should watch your back too!” 

At this moment, Yvonne returned after changing her outfit. When she saw Seth and Caroline clinking glasses and drinking together, her face instantly darkened. 

Worried that Caroline would try to seduce Seth away from her, she hurried over and grabbed the man’s arm. “Seth, what are you and my sister talking about?” 

“Oh, nothing much.” 

Now that Yvonne was here, he retracted his wandering gaze. 

It was about time for the party to start. Those who were meant to attend had already arrived. Right then, the emcee emerged on the stage. 

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you all for coming to the birthday party of Ms. Melissa Thompson, the wife of Lewis Group’s CEO. Now, let’s give a warm welcome to the woman of the hour and Mr. Harry Lewis. They will come up on stage and say at few words. Then, we will have our kind staff members bring out the gift Mr. Lewis prepared for his wife.” 

When the emcee invited her to go on stage, Melissa suddenly felt an itch on her back that she was dying to scratch. However, she had no choice but to go on stage because all eyes were on her. 

Everyone turned to look at the entrance, only to see six employees carrying a large, rectangular object covered by red silk cloth. It seemed very mysterious. 

The emcee continued, “Mr. and Mrs. Lewis are the power couple of the business world in Jipsdale. Everyone knows how much Mr. Lewis loves his wife, which is why he prepared such a marvelous birthday present for her today. Mrs. Lewis, go ahead and uncover the surprise!” 

At present, the crowd was focused on what was happening on stage, watching very intently as Melissa lifted the red cloth. 

The woman’s expression wasn’t great, to begin with. The itch on her back had spread everywhere, and she was immensely uncomfortable, 

Forcing a smile, she uncovered the red cloth. 

The audience’s eyes widened in awe when they saw the photograph in the massive crystal frame. Plenty of exclamations echoed throughout the hall simultaneously. 

“Mr. Lewis really loves Mrs. Lewis! A ginormous crystal frame like that must’ve cost a fortune!” 

“That’s a photo of Mrs. Lewis when she was younger, right? She’s so gorgeous!” 

Hearing the compliments from below the stage, Melissa stared at the giant photo encased in crystal. Her face turned extremely grim when she saw the woman in the photo. 

This was not her when she was younger. 

The young woman that Harry was holding intimately in the photo was not her at all! 

“Who is she?” She looked at Harry, who was facing her. 

Chapter 24 

He turned to look at the gift he had prepared and almost had a heart attack. “How did my photo with Nikki get exposed? Shit! I’m done for!” he thought in fear. 

“Misunderstanding! It must be a misunderstanding. Something went wrong… Harry quickly tried to explain the mess up. 

The guests also began to realize the mistake. “Holy crap! That’s not Mrs. Lewis when she was younger. That’s a photo of Mr. Lewis and another woman!” 

“How could he gift his wife a photo of him and another woman? I wonder how Mrs. Lewis feels…” 

“So, did Mr. Lewis cheat on her?” 

Under the heated gossip of the crowd, the perfect image of husband and wife that Harry and Melissa worked so hard to build was slowly crumbling down. 

Caroline watched everything unfold in silence. The next second, Melissa rushed toward Harry and grilled him. “Who is that woman? Answer me!” 

“Enough! Take it away!” 

Alas, Melissa was not willing to let it go. However, at this moment, her back was itching like mad. She could not take it anymore and finally scratched it. 

Nonetheless, the more she scratched, the itchier it became. Eventually, she performed a strange scratching dance on stage for everyone to watch. It got so bad that she even pulled down her dress and scratched her back until there were bloody marks all over. 

The situation was getting out of control as the crowd clamored away. Harry had never felt this ashamed before. He quickly asked Seth to take the crystal–encased photo off the stage. 

Seth was about to run up the stage to help, but his stomach started hurting out of the blue. An unbearable pain shot. entire body.

It was so excruciating that his face turned pale in an instant. His legs squeezed together as he made a mad dash for the 

restroom. 

“Seth! Seth!” 

As Yvonne was yelling out Seth’s name, she watched as her parents made fools of themselves, especially her mother, who was ripping off her clothes and scratching herself without caring for her image. All she could do was go up and help the woman. 

“Mom! Mom, what’s wrong?” 

Yvonne helped her mother zip up her gown to cover her exposed body. Unfortunately, it was as if that itching feeling was like a contagious virus, for it had spread to Yvonne, and she began feeling itchy too. 

The itch could not be ignored, and Yvonne began scratching herself uncontrollably as well. 

Just like that, the mother and daughter put on a performance on stage, scratching themselves like a couple of maniacs. 

Melissa could never have imagined that Caroline was the one who put itching powder on her back when the latter patted her back earlier, thus causing her to act this way. 

“Don’t you care immensely about your image? Well, I’ll let you be so ashamed that you wish you’re dead instead!” thought 

Caroline. 

It took a while before Harry finally managed to call for help to get rid of the giant photograph. After that was dealt with, he saw his wife and daughter making fools of themselves in front of everyone, rendering him utterly speechless. 

“Stop it! Stop taking photos, everyone!” 

He tried to stop the people from taking photos while trying to protect his wife and daughter, However, how could he possibly control the crowd? 

Caroline stood among the crowd and watched the entire show. Once she was satisfied, she turned to leave the hall. 

As the whole party venue was turned upside down, Seth’s performance was just about to begin. 

He dashed to the restroom and practically let out a ginormous bomb in the toilet. 

After a tough battle with his intestines, he got ready to head back to the party. Unfortunately, his stomach started rumbling again, and he had no choice but to continue going to war. 

His legs even began to go numb after sitting on the toilet for so long. As he was about to wipe himself, he noticed that there was no toilet paper in the cubicle. 

Faced with no other option, Seth used his own sock to finish the job. Yet, after pulling up his pants and finally ready to leave, he noticed that the door was locked from the outside. 

“Open up! Open the door! Is there anyone there?” he yelled hysterically from inside the restroom, but no one came to his aid. 

Chapter 24 

Thus, he took out his phone to call someone, only to discover that there was no cellular signal. 

At that moment, his stomach began to cause trouble for him again. As such, he had no choice but to turn back to the toilet 

seat. 

When the next round ended, he flushed the toilet. To his dismay, the pipes suddenly burst, and filthy toilet water splashed all 

over him. 

It seemed that this night was dooined to be tragic for Seth.
