Chapter 10

Amelia and Romilly were stunned. They didn’t expect Caroline had recorded a video.

Seeing their children bullying Leon, they didn’t dare say anything else, and they both guiltily lowered their heads.

Catherine stood up with the prop of her cane. Then, she hit the floor angrily with it.

There was a loud slam, and it startled several women on the spot.

“This is too much! Kent, Bryan, how could you two do this to Leo?”

Catherine’s heart was aching, and she cried. At that moment, Carmen tried to be a good daughter-in-law and comforted Catherine, “Mom, don’t get mad. It’s not good for your health.”

After saying that, she said to Leon, “Leo, are you okay? Come to me. Let me and Great-grandma take a look at you. Are you

hurt?”

Leon didn’t walk over to them, but he nuzzled against Caroline. His mother squatted down and hugged him as comfort and encouragement.

When Kent and Bryan saw Caroline was angry, they dared not be arrogant and bawled loudly.

“Look at you! How dare you bully Leo, who is younger than you? He didn’t even cry, but you two cried first! Are you the ones being bullied?” Catherine angrily scolded the two chubby kids.

They could only take shelter in the arms of Amelia and Romilly.

Amelia defended her grandsons, saying, “Kent and Bryan are still young, Mom. They’re still kids. I’m sure they were only playing around! I’ll let them apologize to Leon right now!”

Amelia had asked them to apologize, but they refused.

Kent pouted and muttered, “I don’t want to apologize to him! Grandma and Mom said that Leon is a b rd child. We said nothing wrong!”

If they lowered their heads to admit their mistakes, they might be able to get by. However, Kent accidentally had a slip of the

tongue.

Caroline said mockingly, “Mrs. Ziegler, you should’ve heard what that boy said, right? Children don’t lie, and they only tell the truth!”

When Catherine heard this, she became even angrier. “Amelia, Romilly, is this how you usually raise your children? Leo is the child of our family. How dare you say that he is a ba ?”

Catherine was p d off. She was so angry that tears came out of her eyes.

Amelia and Romilly were startled. Amelia quickly replied, “Mom, I was only saying it in jest. I didn’t suspect that Leo was our family’s child…”

Romilly also hurriedly explained, “Grandma, we didn’t mean it! We were only joking around…”

“You said that in jest? Joking? How could you teach your children to bully their siblings?” Catherine once again hit the ground with her cane. “Well, even if the children were still immature, you, as the guardian, deliberately instigated them! If 1 don’t deal with this matter harshly today, the ancestors of the Ziegler family will feel shame on me!”

“Mom…”

“Grandma… We know we’ve made a terrible mistake…”

They tugged at Catherine’s clothes, pleading for mercy. However, Catherine was a strict woman. She immediately shouted, “Michael, bring in the punishment!”

The mother-daughter-in-law duo went on their knees in shock when they heard they were about to be punished.

Their hearts began to beat rapidly.

The two women kneeled as they cried and begged, “Mom, please cut us some slack…”

“Grandma, please… We won’t ever dare to say that again…”

No matter how much they begged, Catherine remained firm. Michael quickly fetched the punishment. It was a black whip with the Ziegler family rules engraved on its handle.

“Mrs. Ziegler, here is the punishment!”

“Whip them! Give them fifty lashes each!” she ordered.

“No! Please don’t! Mrs. Ziegler…”

Amelia wanted to beg Carmen to plead for her. “Carmen, please plead for me!”

Before Carmen could say anything, Catherine yelled, “Whoever dares to beg for my mercy will get punished together!”

Carmen was so frightened that she immediately shut up. After all, she didn’t want to get punished.

Michael obeyed the order and immediately began to swing the whip. A loud smack followed.

“Ah!” Amelia howled in pain.

With another lash, Romilly also cried out in pain.

Michael whipped them once, then twice, and thrice.

The whip was so strong that they felt a searing pain when it hit their bodies. Both Amelia and Romilly whimpered.

The brothers, Kent and Bryan, also cried in fear as they saw their grandmother and mother getting beaten. Catherine rebuked the brothers. “Kent! Bryant Starting from today, you will not bully Leo anymore. Both children cried and nodded their heads, and she had someone take the children away from there.

Caroline didn’t want Leon to witness such a violent scene, so she wrapped her arms around him. The whippings continued, and the clothes of the two women were ripped open. Before Amelia could receive 20 lashes, she had fainted from the pain.

Romilly could not stand it either. After less than 30 lashes, she, too, fainted from the pain.

After the two women fainted, Michael didn’t whip them any further. “Ms. Amelia and Ms. Romilly both fainted. I believe they have learned their lesson. Mrs. Ziegler.”

Catherine waved her hand, signaled him to put the whip away, and sent the women back.

After sending them away, Catherine looked at Caroline and asked, “Are you satisfied with how I handled this?”

Of course, Caroline was very pleased.

Catherine’s approach was fair and just, and no one dared to disagree.

“Mrs. Ziegler, thank you for doing justice. I will return home with Leo first.”

Caroline bent down and lowered her head. After thanking Catherine, she picked up Leo and left..

After they left, Catherine looked closely at Caroline’s ID card again, then said to the butler, “Michael, follow up on this. If it’s true, you’d better hurry up and get the marriage certificate for Quintin and Caroline.”

Catherine had recognized Caroline’s character from what had happened earlier, and she wanted to keep the latter for her grandson, Quintin, as she thought the two were a perfect match.

Michael was very efficient. It didn’t take him long to figure out Caroline’s identity.

Hence, following Catherine’s wishes, they found connections to get a marriage certificate for Quintin and Caroline.

Catherine saw the marriage certificate and nodded her head in satisfaction. Then, she went to Tanglevine Residence to visit Quintin and tell him the good news.

At Tanglevine Residence, Caroline was cooking downstairs in the kitchen when she learned Catherine was coming over. Then, Caroline came out to greet her.

Seeing Catherine go upstairs, Caroline lowered her head and saw Leon sitting in the kitchen doorway. Her heart melted into a puddle.

After the previous matter, Leon clung to her even more.

He wanted to protect Caroline, so he took a chair and sat by the kitchen door, where he could guard her.

“Let’s see who dares to come and take Mommy away!” he thought.

Upstairs, Catherine came into Quintin’s room to see him. She told him what had happened earlier and said with a smile, “Quintin, I think the girl I chose to bring you luck is a good match! Is that what you call a fluke? I think she’s just right for you! I have asked someone to help you with the marriage certificate. Next time, you and Caroline will live together and give Leo a complete family!”

“A marriage certificate?”

When Quintin heard she had someone prepare the marriage certificate, his eyebrows drew tightly together.

“Even if Caroline marries me on behalf of Yvonne, she’s not what I want. I seriously don’t know what that woman put in Grandma’s head. She got Grandma to agree to be her granddaughter-in-law. While I should be grateful to her for helping me protect Leo, getting a marriage certificate without my consent is going too far!” he thought.

He was suffering a lot and had no desire to marry anyone else, not to mention that he had another woman in his heart.

“Grandma, I don’t want to marry her! I will not marry that woman even if I die!”
