As the door closed behind her, Ludwik leaned against the car trying to light a cigarette. His hands trembled. failing to spark a flame.

Felix, Nolan, and Parker were all aware that Ludwik had struggled with demons in the past, demons that had lan dormant for years 

Leaving Whitney behind was not Ludwik’s usual style.
