Lilly has an unusual ability, which has proven invaluable as she's faced trials in her many foster homes. now, the government wants to know what makes her tick, and she's not game. Placed in the foster care system very young, Lilly has suffered lots of abuse and neglect. As a result, she has learned to defend herself, but she has an unusual tool. Lilly can speak to animals, and convince them to come to her aid. However, shes always been scared of the 'others', fearing she wouldn't be able to control them once unleashed. Any hesitance she's had using her power is discarded in high school. Faced with a scientist determined to find what she's capable of, she's become the object of his intended experiment. Lilly must run, and use every tool within her grasp to fight. Dealing with abusive foster homes, 'friends' who believe the rumors being spread about her, and caseworkers that also believe the rumors, Lilly has become intolerant of most people. The crazy doctor definitely ranks high on her 'bullcrap' meter. As a kid, she knows she's not capable of running forever, especially not when the CIA joins the chase. What can she do toend the chase, once and for all? Using her skills, her cunning and a small cadre of friends, Lilly must free herself from those wanting to control her. In addition, she must find a way to make something of her disaster of a life.
