Everyone there, including Diane and Sheila, were jumping for joy. They were extremely happy. Severin was the only one with a frown. He did not seem the slightest bit excited. Zeke could see that Severin reacted a little differently to the news. He frowned and asked, "Why don't you look too happy?"

Severin smiled awkwardly and explained, "I just find it a little odd. Why would the king invite just me when I'm of the same rank as the other thirty-five governors? It's not out-of-place for you and the other province governors to be invited, but I'm on a very different level compared to the two of you. My status isn't the same as yours, so you can't blame me for feeling a little puzzled when you told me that I was invited."

Zeke laughed. "Haha, is that what you're worried about? Well, you don't need to get yourself in a twist. You were the most recently-appointed county governor, so he's a little curious about you and wishes to meet you. He heard that you're an alchemist too, so you can imagine his curiosity toward you. That's the reason he invited you. He simply wants to get to know you."

"He wants to meet you because he's curious about you. You don't have to be so suspicious." Diane rolled her eyes at him. "You should be happy that you got the chance to meet the king."

Severin, however, stretched his waist and remarked helplessly, "Sigh. I'm running out of time, and now I have to attend some prince's birthday party. It'll take up at least several days of my time. The worst part is that I have to prepare gifts for them! It's such a drag!"

Zeke smiled wryly and said, "Well, I agree with you on that last part. He has a lot of gold, silver, and jewelry, so I thought about what I could give to him and settled on some spiritual herbs." After a pause, Zeke continued, "You have it easy though. You just need to prepare a few second-grade high-rank pills! They're valuable, after all, and you'll even be able to steal the show."

Severin did not know how to respond to that. "Haha, I don't know what else to give, and pills make it convenient for me. Still, I wouldn't dare to give them any third-grade pills. If the person who is responsible fo recording the gifts announces that I've given third-grade pills, it would be the same as announcing to the world that I am a third-grade alchemist! I don't think such alchemists exist."

Zeke nodded. "Probably not. I've never heard of anyone who is a third-grade alchemist, aside from you. I was shell-shocked when you said that you're already a third-grade low-rank alchemist."

He then took out the invitation and handed it over to Severin. Severin took the invitation with a smile. He glanced at it briefly and put it away. After putting away the invitation, Severin waved his palm again and quickly took out a third-grade low-level pill for Zeke. "Here. You've come a long way, and we're all friends anyway. This is a token of my appreciation for your trouble."

Zeke's eyes glimmered with excitement when he saw that it was a third-grade low-rank pill.
